Weaver is expected to sign a new contract with the Eagles before the start of free agency.

Philadelphia Eagles Fullback Leonard Weaver is close to signing a contract extension with the team which could take effect as early as Thursday, prior to the start of NFL free agency.
Weaver told Philly.com on Saturday that he believes that the new is done.
Harold Lewis, Weaver's agent, stated that he and Eagles officials had "good meetings" in Indianapolis during the scouting combine, he also stated that there was "nothing more to report than that."
Leonard Weaver played in all sixteen games during the Eagles 2009 regular season, starting in eight of them. He also played in the Eagles wild card playoff round against the Dallas Cowboys.
In the beginning of the 2009 season Weaver was expected to be nothing more than a blocker and only occasionally run or receive the ball out of the backfield on some plays. But he ended up becoming one of the Eagles most productive players while rushing the ball on 70 carries for 323 yards and two touchdowns.
A real fullback is what the Philadelphia Eagles have been missing from their offense over the past few years. It was very obvious how good the Birds offense can be with a Leonard Weaver type player on the roster. He is quite frankly one of the irreplaceable cogs that can get this team to the promised land.

I heard him say that they are close on a deal by he isn't sure about any numbers or the amount of years by he wants a long term deal so he can finally have a stable place to call home

when is the last time anyone cared about a fullback this much....the guy is a multiposition stud!!! PAY THE MAN

Weaver should be the starting tailback next season. when ever he gets the majority of the carries he produces. He just needs a chance to be the man. I hope the eagles management give him a great deal and we have him long term.
