Ever since Roobs and Anno forced me to join Twitter, I’ve decided to just make the most of it and have some fun.  One of the funnier troll accounts I’ve found (and I’m sure you are familiar with him too) is Not Tom Ricketts.  It’s kind of like when the porn industry started making a bunch of parodies of old TV shows and movies, but with the owner of the Cubs.  Seriously, look up stuff like “Not Bewitched” and the Batman porn parody.  It’s amazing how poorly they try to weave a plot into all that *******.  But with Not Tom Ricketts, he actually keeps abreast (huh huh) of current events.  Today we found out that Kyle Lohse FINALLY found a suitor in the Milwaukee Brewers, and Not Tom Ricketts kinda freaked out:   Wut?RT @brewercom: Average Brewers tickets sold per day this time of year is 7,000. With news of Lohse signing, team sold 34,000 today. — Not Tom Ricketts (@NotTomRicketts) March 26, 2013 I agree with “Tom” here. Kyle Lohse is a solid enough pitcher, but he’s old, made the Brew Crew cough up a draft pick while making the Cardinals stronger with the compensation pick (way to go, cheeseheads) and is unlikely to do much to improve the Brewers’ chances at contention when the Reds and Cardinals are still solid and the Pirates will likely have their first half pretender streak before crashing and burning again. For a club that jettisoned most of its young talent to get Zack Greinke and Shaun Marcum, that first round pick would have been much more important than usual, but I guess ownership and the front office didn’t see things that way. Then it got funny: Yep. Lohse for 3 years is the key to winning. Go be a Brewers fan. RT @daddies4angels: @brewercom see what happens when owner tries to win!! — Not Tom Ricketts (@NotTomRicketts) March 26, 2013   @nottomricketts Great way to turn more fans away. Telling us to go root for other teams. No wonder Cubs cant sell out opening day!! #asshole — craig culp (@daddies4angels) March 26, 2013 The number of people who equate Kyle Lohse with winning baseball now stands at two: Doug Melvin and @daddies4angels. — Not Tom Ricketts (@NotTomRicketts) March 26, 2013   Why aren’t you smarter?@daddies4angels: I watch/listen more then 150 games a yr. Go to 3-5 games. Trust me hard to find bigger fan then me — Not Tom Ricketts (@NotTomRicketts) March 26, 2013 @daddies4angels 34 year old with 4.45 career ERA. He’s mediocre at best and their paying him $33M that could have just been set on fire. — Not Tom Ricketts (@NotTomRicketts) March 26, 2013   Now it could be possible that not-so-roided up Ryan Braun can carry the team along with Aramis Ramirez and Yovani Gallardo kicking ass. Kyle Lohse would probably help, but considering the rest of the rotation it’s unlikely to happen as easily as Brewers fans think. It’s also not something that the Theo Epstein-headed Cubs would do, given the rebuild plan and the need to keep those draft picks unless a true impact free agent came along that would be worth surrendering that pick for. That led me to wonder…wouldn’t it be hilarious if the Cubs actually had either Tom Ricketts or Theo Epstein trolling Twitter with this account? I mean, they have to read the blogs and they have to be pissed off at Tom Tunney for messing with their renovation plans. They are probably facepalming and headdesking every night because the fans are so oblivious to what the plan is even though Theo spelled it out from day one when he took the job. What if Theo was using “Not Tom Ricketts” to blow off some steam? @davidrelliott Theo’s got work to do. I don’t want him ******* around on Twitter. — Not Tom Ricketts (@NotTomRicketts) March 26, 2013   Guess not. Damn. But whoever you are, Not Tom Ricketts, I salute you. Give Not Tom Tunney a wedgie for us.
