Time is running out
Craig Littlepage finally spoke on the status of beleaguered Virginia coach Al Groh. Needless to say, it's not good news.
Littlepage, Virginia's athletic director, said Groh will be evaluated at season's end and that the goal of the university is to have fan support at the games. If that's the priority, Groh is all but done considering the Cavs are averaging 7,000 fewer fans than they did in 2008.
There are two current coaches with ties to Virginia who could return to Charlottesville with little transition: Richmond coach Mike London and Temple coach Al Golden. Both, however, are former Groh assistants and have similar coaching styles.
If the school truly wants to go in a different direction — and put fannies in the seats — a better fit could be Harvard coach Tim Murphy. The Crimson annually are amon...
