While We’re Waiting serves as the early morning gathering of WFNY-esque information for your viewing pleasure. Have something you think we should see? Send it to our tips email at tips@waitingfornextyear.com.

Leading off, Let’s Go Tribe has a good piece on what’s troubling Tribe catcher Carlos Santana, “Very few hitters in baseball see fewer fastballs than Carlos Santana. By far, Satana sees the most offspeed stuff on the Indians. He’s getting a fastball only 51% of the time; only part-timer Shelley Duncan is close at 53%. Even the fastball-loving Travis Hafner sees 58% fastballs and has never seen less than 56% in a season. Michael Brantley, Jack Hannahan and Lou Marson all see fastballs nearly 65% of the time. Even Albert Pujols, Ryan Braun, and Miguel Cabrera get a fastball much more often than Santana (58%, 59%, and 60% respectively).” [Let's Go Tribe]

Brendan Bowers over at Stepien Rules informs us that Tristan Thompson will represent Cleveland in the “Battle For Ohio” Basketball tournament tomorrow in Columbus. Several other former Buckeyes will make up Team Columbus, and there are other notables on Team Cleveland, including David Lighty, Dallas Lauderdale, and Dru Joyce. [Stepien Rules]

Kyle Rowland at Eleven Warriors has a look at one of the players who could have a breakout season for the Buckeye football team this season, defensive lineman Michael Bennett, “He may not have been called “Tebowish,” but Bennett finally earned his respect card after a dominating spring. Head coach Urban Meyer took time to single Bennett out when the two-deep was released and it featured Bennett as a backup. Make no mistake, he’ll be an integral part of the defensive attack. ‘That may not necessarily be the case this fall,’ Meyer said about Bennett’s position on the depth chart. ‘We will rotate him in and our four best guys will be on the field at one time. It’s hard for me to say he’s not one of our four best.”" [Eleven Warriors]

Also at 11W, David Sokol gives us an idea of who could be on the radar for Ohio State prospective big men in the 2013 recruiting class, “Chris Walker is as good as it gets for 2013 big men. Walker is a consensus top-10 player who will likely be a one-and-done wherever he ends up. He will undoubtedly have instant impact on whichever school he elects to attend and will most likely attract other top prospects. In fact, Walker’s AAU Florida Rams teammates may be factoring in to his decision.” [Eleven Warriors]

Finally, Tampa Bay first baseman/outfielder Luke Scott, mired in a horrific slump (until last night, that is) had an interesting comment regarding his 0-for-39 slump. Check it out over at Big League Stew.
