White Sox avoiding Figgins, may turn to Podsednik to fill leadoff role

Sporting News staff reports Though his team has been linked to free-agent third baseman Chone Figgins, White Sox general manager Ken Williams told the Chicago Sun-Times that Figgins won't fit into the team's 2009 budget. The White Sox are in search of a leadoff hitter, however, and they could turn to a familiar source. After a divorce with free-agent outfielder Scott Podsednik appeared likely as recently as last week, the newspaper reported talks between Podsednik and the White Sox have heated up.
