For the first time since the Tampa Bay game in Week 2, I watched the Patriots play a game where I had almost no doubt in my mind that, barring a miracle, we would win the game. When Pittsburgh reeled off 14 straight points in the third quarter I was a bit on edge, but Tom Brady and the offense took care of that in a hurry. HOWEVER, let's not jump on the idea that the ship has been righted and all is well. I'm going to break down a few reasons why you should not take too much excitement from this victory. Here they are: 1.) Pittsburgh's D is simply not the same D we're used to seeing -- The penalties against Troy Polamalu summed that up for me, in a nutshell anyway. Once the most athletic and acrobatic safety in the league, he looked old on Sunday. Five years ago that offside penalty would have been a sack or a running back being pile-driven for a loss. Five years ago, he would probably have been called for that unnecessary roughness penalty anyway, but he...

Tom Brady finally gets high-five he was looking for a few weeks ago

The GIF of New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady extending a high five to wide receiver Julian Edelman, only to be unintentionally ignored madem it’s rounds on the internet a few weeks ago. But it didn’t deter Brady from doing again, albeit with another more cognizant teammate, running back LeGarrette Blount… H/T USA TODAY Sports

New England Patriots: Be careful writing off QB Tom Brady

It’s no secret that the New England Patriots offense has struggled this season. QB Tom Brady has struggled to find a chemistry with a seemingly never ending assortment of receivers. Brady has been frustrated at times this season on and off the season. After a remarkable, last second win over the New Orleans Saints in week six, Brady was asked by WEEI the next day how the Patriots...

Tom Brady Finally Gets His High-Five!

Earlier this season a little scene on the sideline between Tom Brady  and Julian Edelman--the high-five that never was-- went viral. It seemed minor and inconsequential at the time, but when it comes to the World Wide Web nothing is safe. Maybe Julian didn't see Tom's hand. He did kind of just stick it out there so it is possible. Perhaps he had that in mind (hence...

Tom Brady Conducts Patriots’ Offense Like Orchestra, Explains Art Behind Non-Verbal Communication With Receivers (Video)

The Patriots’ offense was clicking on all cylinders on Sunday, with Tom Brady finally looking like Tom Brady once again. And much of that success has to do with Brady’s budding chemistry with his receivers. Brady threw for 432 yards and four touchdowns as the Patriots put up 55 points in a blowout win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday. It was the first time the offense has...

Shane Vereen Will Have Huge Impact on Patriots’ Offense As Tom Brady Has Missed Third-Down Running Back (Mailbag)

The Patriots couldn’t be entering the bye week at a better time. Players are banged up, the team’s coming off its best victory of the season and there’s plenty of time to prepare for a Panthers team that matches up with New England extremely well. Luckily for the Patriots, they could be getting back Aqib Talib and Shane Vereen in that game. An opposing team has no tape...

Fantasy Fix: Week 9 - Five Up/Five Down

It was a Bizarro Week Redux in the Fantasy Football World. An Eagles quarterback not named Vick had a record setting day, Tom Brady's demise was greatly exaggerated, the Kansas City defense outscored the offense and a coach collapsed on the sideline - which may or not have been caused by watching his own team. Just another week in National Football League.  Let’s check the...

Kenbrell Thompkins gets vote of confidence from Bill Belichick

The Patriots offense lit up the Steelers on Sunday in Foxborough. Tom Brady had his way with the Pittsburgh secondary and spread the ball around to a variety of pass-catchers. One player who did not show up on the stat sheet, or on the field, was rookie wideout Kenbrell Thompkins, who was a surprising healthy scratch for the game. Big Ben Will Not Quit on This Season

The Steelers find themselves in a huge hole this season and Sunday's loss to the Patriots showcased exactly why the Steelers are in the midst of one of their worst seasons in memory. The front seven couldn't contain the run, and the secondary got picked apart by Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski and something called an Aaron Dobson. On offense, the running game was effective...

“The worst 6-2 team in NFL history” Wins Again

No, that’s not me being snarky. Chris Gasper actually wrote “The worst 6-2 team in NFL history bumped its record to 7-2 at its intermission with a 55-31 demolition of the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday at Gillette Stadium.” I apologize in advance to Gasper if he is just being sarcastic. I’m having a hard time distinguishing what passes for sarcasm these days. (No, apparently...
