As well all know, Rob Gronkowski underwent an arthroscopic procedure yesterday on his ailing left ankle. The scope cleaned up whatever the damage from his high ankle sprain. The recovery process is expected to be 10 weeks. That said, we consulted Dr. Steven Weinfeld, chief of foot and ankle surgery at Moint Sinau School of Medicine, who was dead on with his read of how well Gronk would be able to play on that ankle Super Bowl Sunday. Did Weinfeld believe Gronk would be his old self, that beast of a tight end, when the smoke cleared on his rehab? ”Unfortunately for the other teams, yes, you’ll see the same (beast of a tight end) as last year,” Dr. Weinfeld said yesterday. ”I would not anticipate any problems for next year.” Gronkowski managed to play in the Super Bowl, after just two weeks to recover from the initial injury.
