Found August 22, 2013 on Madtown Badgers:
Well, we knew it was going to be a tough opener to the trip. Carleton is a perennial powerhouse in Canada and the Badgers are still trying to figure this new-look team out. That was evident in the first half, as Carleton jumped out to a 51-36 lead on its way to a 95-82 victory. Even though the loss is disappointing, the results are not the most important idea on the trip. Bo is able to mix and match with the line-up and see who plays well together. I was not surprised with the starting line-up as it makes sense, but it’s a smaller line-up. One of the big guys off the bench is going to have to come through to beat some of the tougher Big Ten teams. Overall, a win would have been nice, but it really wasn’t expected, especially since Carleton has already knocked off TCU and Towson by twenty points each this summer. Now let’s dive into the box score. ·         Sam Dekker looks like he picked up right where he left off last year. He is going to be something spe...

Beyond the Boxscore: Wisconsin 101, Ottawa 92

Now that was more fun to watch. After another somewhat slow start, the Badgers used a big run at the end of the first half, and a quick start to the second to knock off the Ottawa Gee Gees 101-92. The win moved Wisconsin to 1-1 on the Canada trip as the Badgers take tomorrow off before games on three consecutive days. Again, the Badgers showed that they are going to be playing...

Big-play ability could mean Joel Stave starts at QB for Badgers

MADISON, Wis. -- Maybe there is nothing more to say. Curt Phillips and Joel Stave have been battling to be Wisconsin's starting quarterback in 2013 for more than five months. Yet here we are, nine days before the team's season opener, and nobody seems certain which man will emerge from the first huddle of the game. Not Phillips. Not Stave. It is out of their hands at this...

Wisconsin Badgers Announce New Helmet Design for Tennessee Tech Game

This summer may eventually go down as the Summer of the Alternate Helmet. I lost track of how many redesigned and alternate helmets school unveiled over the last few months. Some of them were winners; others--not so much. Since the summer is not quite over yet why not add another new helmet to the bunch? Wisconsin has unveiled a new style, one that they will be wearing for the...

Wisconsin unveils inverted red helmet for next season

This new helmet that the Wisconsin Badgers unveiled and will wear on September 7th against Tennessee Tech isn’t a bad concept, but I still think the original looks better.  Since the game against Tennessee Tech will be a home game, there will be an awful lot of red in Camp Randall Stadium.  It’s not great, but it certainly isn’t the worst helmet that has been unveiled this...

Andersen fitting in just fine at No. 23 Wisconsin

Any concerns about how Wisconsin's Gary Andersen would be accepted by the team's strong fan base may have been dissolved in the wind blowing through a cornfield. A farmer recently decided to carve a corn maze with the likeness of the face of the Badgers' new coach and the school's signature ''W'' logo on a football. Welcome to Wisconsin, Gary. ...

Weight Transfer

For seniors Ethan Hemer and Pat Muldoon, the switch from a 4-3 to a 3-4 defense for Wisconsin this season required more than just a change of technique.
