After the fan base began freaking out thanks to a "mass exodus" of head coaches following Bret Bielema's departure to Arkansas it appears Wisconsin has found their man in Utah State's Gary Anderson. He's a name and face that is familiar to Camp Randall, having taken the Badgers to the wire before losing 16-14 on a missed 37 yard field goal.  Wisconsin has yet to make things official because they are still in the legal 14 day period for the job opening to be posted and stay open. However, once that closes expect the announcement to be made official within minutes.  Anderson is 26-24 in his four year stint at Utah State and he finished 2012 off by winning the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl 45-10 over Toledo this past Saturday. The victory sealed the best season in Aggies history, going 11-2 and setting a school record for wins in a single season.  Following in the footsteps of Barry Alvarez and Bret Bielema before him he is a defensive minded coach, one that was the defensive coordinator on Urban Meyer's 2005 Fiesta Bowl winning team. The obvious question remains what will happen to the Wisconsin offense as Andersen has run the spread at Utah State, but according to sources Andersen isn't "married" to a specific philosophy on the offensive side of the ball. Couple that with the fact that Alvarez was quoted over the weekend as saying the following: “I don’t have any problem with our scheme,” said Alvarez, who will coach the Badgers in the Rose Bowl against Stanford on Jan. 1. “I don’t perceive us as a spread them out, fast pace, no huddle, one back, five wides (offense). I don’t see us doing that because that’s not the type of kid we can consistently recruit and we have to remember that.     “You know what the plan is. It starts with those big palookas up front.” Keep up to date on the latest on this hire by reading our brothers over at MadTownBadgers for full information.
