Kevin Love will undergo surgery tomorrow on the third and fourth metacarpals in his right hand, which he injured on Jan. 3 in Denver.
Dr. Michelle Carson at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York will perform the surgery. The doctor who treated Love's past two hand injuries, Dr. Andy Weiland, was unavailable until later in the week. Love is expected to miss 8-10 weeks, which will keep him out likely until mid-March.
Love broke the third and fourth metacarpals in his right hand for the first time this season on Oct. 17 and returned to action Nov. 21. His season up until this latest injury was filled with freak incidents, including a bruised thumb, an incident when he was poked in the eye and two bouts with illness.
In 18 games this season, Love has averaged 18.3 points and 14.0 rebounds. He has 14 double-doubles on the year.
