Most everyone, including me predicted that the U.S. would have Gabby Douglas and Jordyn Weiber competing in the all around competition this Olympics. But the first night of competition took a surprising twist. To begin the night all the U.S. women did well in the team preliminary competition especially on the vault where they pretty much blew away all the other teams. As the night went on Gabby and Jordan were in position to take the two all around spots for the U.S. then on the team’s last rotation the floor exercise Aly Raisman who won bronze on this event at World’s pulled a giant score of 15.325 pulling in front of both her team mates taking the first spot for the all around followed by Gabby eliminating Jordyn from qualifying. Such a huge shock considering Jordyn was expected to take gold in the all around competition. While heartbreaking for Jordyn this could really open the door for Aly to step up and win a major gold for the U.S.
