When you're down 6-0 to the New York Yankees after four-plus innings, you can't really look beyond the M's starting pitcher for blame. Sure, the M's could have done more against C.C. Sabathia after getting the leadoff guy on in the first three innings. But Fister has to go beyond the fifth inning to be a major league starter. That's two outings in a row he's failed to do it. End of story right there. Two homers by Mark Teixeira buried the M's tonight, especially that three-run shot off Fister in the second. We saw Carlos Silva make a 27-pitch appearance in the eighth inning, giving up a run and getting pulled with two on and two out. First off, let me say, in Silva's defense, that Bill Hall should have caught that double by Robinson Cano. Hall appeared to be running at three-quarters speed after the ball and a healthy outfielder likely would have caught it.
