For their 10th pick the Yankees went with a high school product out of Florida, Ben Gamel. Gamel is 5′10″ and 180 lbs., he’s a left handed hitting center fielder. He’s also the younger brother of the Brewers’ Mat Gamel. I had a chance to interview Gamel the day of the draft and he was a very polite kid who is excited about becoming a Yankee. He has a commitment to Florida State, but he assured me that won’t stop him from signing. Early comparisons are being made with his brother and Yankee prospect Corban Joseph.
