Yankees 2010 10th Round Draft Pick: Ben Gamel

For their 10th pick the Yankees went with a high school product out of Florida, Ben Gamel. Gamel is 5′10″ and 180 lbs., he’s a left handed hitting center fielder. He’s also the younger brother of the Brewers’ Mat Gamel. I had a chance to interview Gamel the day of the draft and he was a very polite kid who is excited about becoming a Yankee. He has a commitment to Florida State, but he assured me that won’t stop him from signing. Early comparisons are being made with his brother and Yankee prospect Corban Joseph. Here is what Baseball America had to say about him: Neptune Beach’s Ben Gamel is the younger brother of Brewers big leaguer Mat and has similar hitting tools as his brother.
