The New York Yankees got beaten badly in Beantown. Mr. Met making a funny. It was a three game sweep that made Yankee fans everywhere question whether this 2013 team is even good enough to compete if they happen to slide into the postseason, which would be via Wild Card berth only. That is because the moment the Red Sox finished off the Yankees last night, they eliminated the Bronx Bombers from any possibility of winning the AL East. Not that anyone thought that was even faintly plausible anyway. Prior to the Yankees breakdown, Peyton Manning and his Denver Broncos absolutely crushed the New York Giants. The G-men are now 0-2 on the season. The New York Yankees take another big blow

The 2013 New York Yankees are, if nothing else, resilient. But after being swept by the Red Sox this past weekend, you have to wonder how many more punches this team can take. The loss of Brett Gardner may have finally put the Yankees to bed. They have four series remaining this season out of 52, and after Round 48 they’re back on their stool in their corner, trying once more to...

Even Ying and Yang Are Dead

It used to be that if the Yankees had a great year, the (NFL) Giants would be a disaster. And the reverse was also true. Now, we seem to have entered a new "Karma Zone," wherein the Yankees and the Giants can simultaneously, and sequentially, suck.I have been saying all year, that Brian Cashman is a failure, and should be long gone.   He piggybacked upon the wealth of George...

Yankees activate David Phelps, move Jeter to 60-Day DL

The New York Yankees activated pitcher David Phelps from the 60-Day DL Saturday according to the Yankees official Twitter page. The team moved Derek Jeter to the 60-Day DL to open a spot on the 40-man roster for Phelps. The Yankees originally placed Phelps on the DL with a forearm strain on July 6 two days after he allowed four runs in six innings against the Twins. He had only...

Red Sox Fan Penned Farewell Poem to Mariano Rivera, Team Hung It in Yankees Dugout Before Sunday’s Game (Photo)

The Red Sox saw Mariano Rivera for the last time in a regular season game at Fenway Park on Sunday, and there was no shortage of moving tributes to the closer. Although many of the Fenway Faithful will be glad their team no longer has to contend with Rivera, most can’t deny the class, composure and and success he has had over the past 19 seasons. Dick Flavin, Fenway Park’s unofficial...

Mariano Rivera Now Owner of Custom Bike, Gold Record as MLB Teams Add to Collection of Retirement Gifts (Photos)

It’s not often that players get to retire on their own terms, but after having his 2012 season cut short due to injury, Mariano Rivera is retiring at the end of his 2013 campaign. The very near future Hall of Famer is widely regarded as one of the best closers to ever play the position and unlike some other famous names like Trevor Hoffman and Billy Wagner, Rivera has had...

Playoff Push: Yankees 3 games back of both Wild Card spots

(Courtesy of Jared Wickerham/Getty Images) The Yankees lost the second game of the series to the Red Sox yesterday and the Rays won again, so the Yanks are now 3 games back of Tampa. However, on the semi-bright side, the Rays and Rangers are tied for the first Wild Card spot and the two teams clash next week in Tampa for 4 games. So, don’t count out the Yankees yet. Here are how...

Preview: Yankees @ Blue Jays (9/17/13)

After getting swept by the Red Sox over the weekend, the Yankees playoffs hopes are fading faster than the old rickety bodies that make up the roster. Andy Pettitte (10-9, 4.04 ERA) gets the ball first against the knuckle baller R.A. Dickey (12-12, 4.36 ERA.) Pettitte has been the Yanks most reliable starter as of late. In his past six starts, the oldest starter in baseball is 3...

Mariano Rivera Catches Tag On Fenway Wall

I bet he purposely pissed on the floor too

Mariano Rivera leaves message in Fenway Park bullpen

Mariano Rivera left a note in the bullpen at Fenway Park. Sunday night’s game was the last time Rivera will visit Fenway Park as the All-Time saves leader heads for retirement at the end of the season. This what Rivera wrote in the bullpen. — Buster Olney (@Buster_ESPN) September 16, 2013   For those who are having trouble seeing it reads “Mariano...

Our Chances

The Yankees will come out swinging tonight. After three missed punches and a pulled ligament.Still standing but the room is pretty empty. Is there even a reason to keep punching?Better to enjoy a drink.

Red Sox Shower Mariano Rivera With Fenway-Inspired Gifts During Pregame Ceremony (Photos)

Sunday night is likely the last time Mariano Rivera will step onto the field at Fenway Park, and the Red Sox ensured that moment would be a special one for the Yankees closer. After a trio of Red Sox players from the 2004 squad paid their own humorous tribute to No. 42, the current Red Sox members, who were all gathered on the field, took their turn at honoring Mo. Rivera has received...

CC Sabathia Ineffective Again as Boston Red Sox Defeat New York Yankees 5-1

The New York Yankees were hoping to keep up in the American League playoff race on Saturday afternoon as they squared off in the second game of the series against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. However, they would be playing this game without an important bat in the lineup, as Alfonso Soriano was scratched 10 minutes before the game with a sprained right thumb, and his status...

Yankees shutdown by Lester 5-1 loss to Boston

The New York Yankees' regular-season schedule includes just one more game against AL-East leading Boston. That is good for their playoff hopes. Jon Lester pitched eight dominant innings, holding the Yankees to three hits and the Red Sox beat New York 5-1 on Saturday. The Red Sox improved to 12-6 against the rival Yankees with the season-series finale coming Sunday night. Instead...

Ozzie Canseco named ULB Manager of the Year

You have to give it to the Canseco brothers, if anything, they love the game of baseball. At least that's the image they portray. Jose Canseco may be the Godfather of performance enhancers, but he did start the process that has cleaned up the game, the likes we have never seen. Ozzie Canseco was never the player his brother was. He was drafted by the New York Yankees in the...
