Masters: Five biggest storylines for 2013 The first major of the year starts early Thursday morning, and we have a truckload of storylines. Who could break through at Augusta??? Augusta is special because it's the only major played on the same course, year after year. If you're one of those players who hasn't won a major, but whom the public and the media believe should have won one, this tournament could offer the best chance of a breakthrough. Tiger Woods in peak form heading into the Masters. Woods is again the big story at the 77th Masters, having regained the No. 1 spot two weeks ago when he won the Arnold Palmer Invitational, his first time atop the rankings in 2½ years. He has won six times in a little more than a year and is looking like the kind of player who can add to his 14 major titles. Jack Nicklaus says Tiger Woods will break majors record Jack Nicklaus held court with the media Tuesday and had a lot to say about the tournament he so reveres and the man trying to chase down his record of 18 majors. Tiger, Phil chasing more Masters history Entering the 77th edition, Tiger & Phil seem poised to add another Green Jacket to the closet -- especially Woods, who quite frankly needs it more than Mickelson. No TV for Tiger on Thursday All eyes will be on Tiger Woods on Thursday...or would be were the Augusta National Golf Club not so stubbornly resistant to change. Potter tops Mickelson, Kucher in Par 3 contest No player has ever won the Par 3 Contest and gone on to win that week’s Masters, yet despite the looming jinx both Mickelson & Kuchar posted 4-under-par totals and returned to the layout for a late afternoon playoff with Ted Potter Jr. Augusta National's 10 Scariest Shots Red numbers are expected at the Masters, but that doesn't mean Augusta National can't strike fear into the world's best golfers.
