Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. Like clockwork each season, one starter regularly takes his turn in the rotation when the offense takes the night off, and no matter how well, or average, that pitcher performs, it’s not enough. That’s Ryan Dempster’s fate this year with the Red Sox. Last night was further proof. Dempster spread out eight hits and three runs over his six innings while he waited for the offense to come to life — and that never happened. Herald: No offense, but bats need to help Dempster Call it tough luck, call it bad offense but whatever it is just don't call it fair. Last night was his fifth straight quality start and all he has to show for it is a 2-3 stretch. If you look at the entire season, that was Dempster's eighth start in which he received two or fewer runs of support. He's also pitched in seven of the Sox 15 home losses, and he only received 18 runs of support in those losses. With Lester struggling and Buchholz hurt, we're relying on Dempster to give us quality starts and he's been doing exactly that. If the offense could just pick up the pace a bit, his record might be more indicative to how he's pitched. Rest of the Links: Globe: Sox can't keep up | Lots of innings, not much luck for Dempster | Remy to return to play by play booth | Herald: Rays deny sweep | Sox no closer to solution | Catcher gets better with experience | No offense, but bats need to help Dempster | Jerry Remy will be in booth next week | CSNNE: Rays escape Fenway with one | Third game in two days for Salty | WEEI: Sox offense continues to struggle | Sox sign first-rounder Ball for $2.75 million
