Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.
Sources: Dempster, #RedSox close.

This was around 10 AM from Rosenthal, who has some of the best sources in the game. It's going to be surprising how much Dempster signs for since he already rejected the Sox first offer of 2 years at $25 million. Maybe he's getting the exact deal that both Victorino & Napoli got (3 years, $39 million)... maybe the Sox are willing to pay more.
If so that is a pretty scary deal, Dempster got himself a good taste of the American League for the first time as the Cubs traded him to Texas and the numbers don't look so hot once you get past the 7-3 record. A 5.09 ERA & a WHIP of 1.435 in 12 starts isn't the best thing to look at. The Sox are going to overpay and hope that he can be the pitcher he was in the first half of the season in the Chicago.
If Dempster does sign, then the Sox would've been set to run for a title if this was 2008. With these additions and the hope that the pitching staff will have a bounce back year, they can hopefully be contending for that second wild card spot.
