Pronger stomp nets 8-game suspension

Anaheim Ducks captain Chris Pronger was suspended by the NHL for 8 games without pay for stomping on Vancouver Canucks forward Ryan Kesler's leg. I have watched the video a few times, and personally I don't see it being that big of a deal. Looking at the video, it appears more that he is kicking away after getting his leg tangled up. Ok, I can see a couple games at most because you can't do that, but 8 games when the season is winding down and the Ducks are in a fight for the playoffs? Come on.

Pronger has a history of this kind dirty play.
Eight games is more than fair.
If he can't learn to control his frustration then perhaps some time watching may give him a wake-up call!

at least it wasnt during a stoppage of play like simon's was. plus, its obvious that kesler was holding him from the play with his legs and pronger just got caught up tryin to get off him. eight games is fair.

What a bunch of Duck's homers! That was just plain bad judgement on Pronger's part. 30 games at the very least. He should have to miss the playoffs like Domi and Hatcher. True hockey fans know that there is no room for this kind of play on hockey.

quit trippin foo. 30 games?!! it was a heat-of-the-moment thing, its not like it was premediatated or anything. anything over 15 games woulda been too much, he wasnt tryin to injure kesler, he was just tryin to get outta his legs

If anyone watched the incident you will see that none of this would have happened if Kesler would've let Pronger go. It's very clear to me that Kesler was trying to hold Pronger back by keeping his legs closed around Pronger's skate not letting him get back in the play. Even though stomping on someone is not acceptable, 30 games is ridicules and for Pronger's eighth suspension 8 games seems about right maybe a little high.

As a Sharks fan, I'd live to see Pronger get a longer suspension, but this was nothing like the Simon incident. 8 games seems about right. If Pronger didn't have a history of playing dirty, I don't think a suspension would be warranted at all.
