Lets Breakdown Kimbo Slice's Pro's and Con's

We all know there is some crazy hype surrounding Kimbo. So I thought we could try and analyze his pro's and con's. Here is how I see it, though I admittedly have only seen a couple of his fights on youtube, and ome interviews etc. I am attaching a video which I think illustrates the kind of fighter he is.

PRO: Awesome striker, Can take a hit ,Total thug

CON: Terrible cardio, No ground game, Older than dirt, Total thug

What are your thoughts? (There is some explicit language in the video)

my thoughts he needs to get off the street fighting and fight some pro's. no mistaken he can fight but when it comes to the discipline of MMA and the talent that the MMA has i can't see him being anything but a street fighter. and i sure as hell don't think he can beat chuck or frank or any pro, i actually think this hype over him and chuck is leading up to a fight. so they can prop it before it happens know what i mean.

great blog WJ!!! and i'd have to second what the hubby says, i need to see him actually in with pro's & i know all the hype over him & chuck is leading up to a fight ;0 !!! kinda like a pre-see who's interested-get in the pit type thang !!!

i'm in on this i'll 3rd the replies above

yes, we just need to see him fight someone who's not a can and not a push over. Seeing him fight Ricco would be good enough for me, someone who has experience winning and isn't relatively new to MMA.

Did you guys watch the very end of te video where it shows the other guys eye? Its insane

YES ~ i did WJ!!

Jesus. That eye didn't look good, but nothing a pair of huge sunglasses wouldn't fix.

I think Kimbo is working off pure shock factor. Granted if he does get a clean punch in it will have knockout capability, but I honestly doubt if he can get a clean shot in on a seasoned fighter before he gets gassed.
But ya, I would love to see him fight a real fight, cause it would either be a quick knockout for Kimbo, or a brutal defeat for someone who was highly touted as the next big thing.

He is scary looking, and his name is kimbo slice.

I agree with everyone, Kimbo needs to fight someone legit, and he needs to drop the porn sponsor. I thought it was funny when he said he wanted to fight Liddell "bare knuckle". Like that would make a difference. He is breing a lot of attention to MMA though.................now beat someone other than tomato cans.

Nah...I say dont waste any Pros time or energy. This man is never going to be anything other than a street fighter. I cant even say he's a good striker. He's a street fighter and his style reflects that. Its sloppy and uncontrolled really. He's just a power hitter. If he gets on the ground he's going to lose every time. Don't get me wrong he looks tough as nails. But I dont think its enough. He has no cardio and no submission skills. He's just a guy with lead for fists.

And how do you know he has cardio problems? How do you know he has no submission skills? Because in his two mma fights he has one submission and one KO. "If he gets on the ground he is going to lose everytime.", how do you know? Please explain.

Before I say anything I want it to be known I am not a kimbo fan or hater. Kimbo needs to fight some legit guys, thats obvious. But it is not his fault that he is fighting scrubs. He fights who they put in front of him. They want to let him get a few wins under his belt before he goes up against the top competition. So lets look at the pro's of Kevin "kimbo slice" ferguson....

Pro's: He is a big 6'2, athletic, strong, moves well for a 240 lb guy, and he is a lot smarter than anyone knows. Although thug like he was on an academic scholarship at Miami U. He probably isnt in this situation(fighting) if the hurricane(cant remember which one) would not have destroyed most of his life. He has the hunger to support his family at what ever the cost is. I think his athletisicm is overlooked a lot. With his athleticism, and the way he will be able to gain knowledge and be able to learn things like Ju jitsu are things that will come easier to him. Than some guys.

Cons: Inexperience in the ring, age, not a lot of ground game. Not necessarily no ground game, but is learning and I think it will come easy to him. If he was young 24 or so and was at the physical level he is at now, then I would be saying that he would be the next big champ. BUT his age is prohibiting him from being anything other than a far more popular Houston Alexander.(and probably more successful)

James Thompson is 14-8 with 9 KO's. He is not 70 like Abbott, and has background in wrestling, jujitsu, and muay thai. I think this guy is going to be Kimbo's first semi challenge. And if this fight doesnt go more than 2 minutes then Kimbo will be holding the belt in less than a year.
