Bruins, 3-1

An open-ice hit by Andrew Ference on Martin Erat in the third period sparked Boston's rally. Glen Metropolit scored 48 seconds after Ference's belt -- the defenseman also threw down with Scott Nichol following the blast -- to record the game-winning goal.

Tim Thomas stopped 37 of 38 shots. In the second period, he used the shaft of his stick to rob Alexander Radulov. In the third period, he threw a two-pad stack to kick out Radek Bonk's close-range attempt.

"It might be the best game by a goaltender in one game," said Jason Arnott. "Incredible."

* Metropolit, who scored his second goal later in the third period, now has 101 career points. Milan Lucic retrieved the puck from his first goal that gave him 100 points. "It means a lot," said Metropolit of the milestone. "I told Lucic on the bench that I never thought I'd play my first NHL game, never mind get 100 points."

* With his assist on Metropolit's second goal, Chuck Kobasew now has 100 career points. Kobasew also made a nice play on Metropolit's first goal, cutting across the forward and drawing a Nashville defender.

* Marc Savard recorded an assist on Marco Sturm's second-period power-play goal, extending his scoring streak to eight straight games (2-11--13 during the stretch).

* The Bruins practice tomorrow at Ristuccia Arena at 11:30 a.m.
