Life hasn't been that much fun for Jets cornerback Justin Miller recently. After a standout first season, things have gone downhill quickly. On May 20th he was arrested and charged with third-degree assault after "accidentally" striking a woman following a drunken scuffle. It was later announced that the woman was an aide to Senator Barack Obama -- obviously, not good at all.Since then, his status with the Jets and the NFL has remained in question. Will he face a suspension? Will he be cut? Will he lose his job? Those are all miserable questions to have unanswered when you wake up every morning. Despite the stress, Miller hasn't cracked and has been participating fully in every team activity this offseason. He has also remained apologetic for the entire incident.
"It's an unfortunate situation, and right now, it's a legal matter that I can't discuss, but I'd like to reiterate my apology to my team, the organization and my family," Miller said.Something else that probably isn't helping his blood pressure is watching wide receiver Brad Smith practicing kick returns. Perhaps the Jets are preparing for a suspension or perhaps something even worse. Either way, the once bright future for Miller has now becoming considerably hazy.
