Mining the Gold Rush
49ers to sign Rossum, Foster?
A report that says the team has signed kick return specialist Allen Rossum.
I remember Rossum very well from his days in Atlanta and from Madden video gaming. I think that Rossum will add a little flair, and a good load of experience on a special teams unit that should be improving. Last year, the return game was OK, nothing spectacular. I think that with the field position that Rossum can give, it opens up a lot for the offense in a short field.
Another rumor, according to ESPN’s John Clayton talks about the Niners coming close to inking running back Deshaun Foster. Foster, as some of you remember, was the one who had that diving touchdown in the Super Bowl for the Panthers a few years back. A classic footage.
Anyway, this comes on the heel of the Niners possibly wanting to find Frank Gore a back up, since Gore is injury-proned. Foster too has gone through a lot of injuries, so I don’t know if this is the best thing for the team. I like Foster a lot as a player who I think had a lot of potential ever since Stephen Davis left the Panthers. But injuries has just been his demise.
But if Foster were to sign with the team, who will be gone? Michael Robinson? Maurice Hicks? Thomas Clayton?
I hope that none of them have to leave, but it may look like Clayton would be the easiest to get rid of, even though I believe that he will become a big star. I’ll keep posted on more as they develop.
