Buckeyes and Wildcats improve tournament resumes, Razorbacks take step back

Buckeyes Finally Get Signature Win, Wildcats Keep Pace
Ohio State improved their tournament stance last night as they defeated Purdue 80-77 in overtime yesterday in Columbus. As discussed yesterday in our tournament bid post the Buckeyes control their own tournament fate as the regular season comes to a conclusion. This win puts them at 9-8 in the conference, with a win in the finale over Michigan St. they would be assured a bid to the big dance. While it will be no small task to beat the Spartans at least the Buckeyes will be hosting them in the friendly confines of Value City Arena.

Kansas St. improved to 19-10, 9-6 in league play with their 78-72 victory over Colorado in the Little Apple last night. Freshman star Michael Beasley poured in 33 points to set a Kansas St. single season scoring record, just another accolade in a tremendous season. The KSU faithful treated this game as a campaign to keep Beasley at their school as they chanted, "One more year, Michael" and "Please don't leave Michael" throughout the contest. With a win vs Iowa St. in the last regular season game Kansas St. will sew up a bid, don't worry 10 conference wins will be enough to get you in this year.

Razorbacks Continue to Struggle Down the Stretch
Dwayne Curtis led the Ole Miss Rebels to a crucial 81-72 victory over Arkansas in Oxford, a game that both teams desperately needed. This is Arkansas' third loss in four games and if they are not careful they could slide right out of contention for a tourney spot. However, with their final game being home against a lowly Auburn team at home we still see them getting in if they can pull out a victory.

Despite this big win we still view Mississippi as being on the wrong side of the bubble. This win although impressive still only puts them at 6-9 in conference play. The SEC has not been strong enough this year to warrant a team getting in with an under .500 record.
