Someone please explain Kaz Matsui to me. I don’t get it. He plays in 1,143 consecutive games in Japan, then comes to the US, suffers through a myriad of injuries, loses playing time to Marlon Anderson and gets traded out of New York for a .217 hitting Eli Marrero. He finally gets his career back together, and now this…HEMORRHOIDS!

(Rotoworld) The Houston Chronicle reports that Kaz Matsui will fly to Houston tonight to meet with a specialist concerning a problem with hemorrhoids. “He’s going to see if there’s another treatment we can do to accelerate the healing process,” general manager Ed Wade said. “We’re going to make sure we are doing everything to relieve the discomfort he’s got.” Matsui was removed from the lineup during a Feb. 29 game because of the ongoing problem. The treatment should not affect Matsui’s playing time.

If producers ever decide to make a Japanese version of American Pie, I nominate Kaz Matsui to play the Jason Biggs role.
