From the Boston Globe:
The Patriots announced the re-signing of safety Ray Ventrone today. The re-signing was a formality, as Ventrone was an exclusive rights free agent.
Ventrone, 24, was originally signed by the Patriots as an undrafted free agent on April 28, 2005. He has played in two regular-season games and two playoff contests in his career, all with the Patriots last season.
He adds depth in the secondary and also on special teams.
As an exclusive rights free agent, Ventrone was in the same category as inside linebacker Eric Alexander, outside linebacker Pierre Woods, and offensive lineman Wesley Britt. All four players are expected back with the club in 2008.
