From Tyler Kepner -

Jason Giambi asked Manager Joe Girardi if he could skip Wednesday’s trip to St. Petersburg because of lower back issue he described as minor.

Giambi said he was simply worn down a bit by the more strenuous work the Yankees have been doing this spring. “I’m going too good now,” Giambi said. “I don’t want to mess that up. I’ll be fine.”

Let’s hope so. It does show you just how fragile these guys are though. Giambi is 37 years old and even though he feels more comfortable playing the field, he won;t be able to do it with a lot of consistency. Plus, 8-9 innings everyday is a lot more than 4-5 innings like spring training. I put the over/under of games he plays at first base at 80.
