BREAKING NEWS: Tatupu a Seahawk through 2015

The Seattle Seahawks have just announced the signing of Lofa Tatupu to a contract that will keep him in the Blue and Gray through 2015. The extension will pay him a little over $40M with more then $16M in guarantees. This pretty much says that Lofa will be in the Seahawks Uniform until he decides to hang it up.

To do this, Tim Ruskell announced that players such as DE Patrick Kerney, DT Craig Terrill, SS Deon Grant and CB Jordan Babineaux were more then willing to restructure their contracts to free up the cap space needed to make the deal happen.

Tatupu said at his press conference:

“I hope to add some rings, some jewelry to my fingers, and I think that we are on the right path for that.” He stated that this was the only place he wanted to be.

I think I speak for Seahawks fans around the world when I say: “Nice job, Ruskell. Now for Trufant."

“I owe them a dinner.” – Lofa Tatupu on the restructuring of the contracts.

Major props to Dave "Softy" Mahler for asking: "Does the restructuring of your contract take away some of the sting of your USC Trojans losing to Kansas yesterday?"
