Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports that a trade that would send suspended Tennessee Titans cornerback Pacman Jones to the Dallas Cowboys is imminent.
According to Schefter, the Cowboys and Titans spent Thursday discussing the trade and should be able to work out a deal soon. Although Schefter reports that the teams are still a few rounds apart in discussing compensation — the Titans have asked for a third-round pick and the Cowboys have offered a sixth-round pick — the deal could get done within the next couple of days.
In fact, Jones could be in Dallas this weekend to announce a deal at team headquarters before Cowboys officials leave for the league meetings in Florida.
There’s still the matter of Jones needing to be reinstated. Although suspended players can be traded, merely acquiring the rights to Jones doesn’t do the Cowboys any good unless NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell allows him to play. It is unclear when or whether that will happen.
But it’s increasingly looking like if Jones plays in the NFL again, it will be with a star on his helmet.

maybe instead of a third, dallas can send a sixth and bobby carpenter. i don’t know if the titans need him though. dallas would probably rather give up a sixth rounder and carpenter than a third rounder.

If Pacman does not screw up he will be back this year. If the boys win the Super bowl he will probably be MVP. It’s not like he was involved in a double murder Ray

A third round pick for a guy who hasnt been reinstated yet? Crazy! Even a 6th round pick is nuts. All strip (oops- I mean gentlemens) clubs in Dallas should beef up security.

In the words of C. Montgomery Burns:
Eeeeeeeeexcellent…
One more reason for me to disdain the Cowboys, and one less team looking for a CB in the first round.

As much as I don’t respect them for it, I have to give credit to the Cowboys for taking a “win by any means necessary” approach. Signing Tank Johnson, now going after Pacman. Wonder why they didn’t call Antonio Bryant, or trade for Marcus Stroud?

Jerry Jones, without Parcells to somewhat disuade him, will once again turn the Cowboys into a refuge for thugs, rejects and criminals (PacMan encompassing all of the above attributes). Ol’ Plastic Face (Jones) is bad for the NFL, despite being good for Cowboys fans with a win at all costs attitude.
Somewhere a man will never again walk because of PacMan, yet PacMan is allowed to pursue a career in the NFL, which by no means is an inalienable right, rather a priveledge. I suppose that in “The League” talent does trump all. But at least the owners are addressing the issue of long hair, assuring all of us fans that they do have priorities to address and standards to uphold. Sad indeed.

Anything you can get for a loser that doesn’t even deserve to be in the NFL, then great. Another case of wasted talent. The only reason Adam Jones ever tried to get to the endzone is cause he wanted to do his dance on the pole. See ya and don’t come back.

If Dallas gets this done, it takes away two of their most glaring needs…CB and returner. They were likely to use one of their 1st Rounders on a CB.
Their other need was at RB.
If Pacman happens, I can see Jerry trading up to get in position for McFadden. Jerry will consider Pacman as one of his ‘08 1st Round picks (24 years old) and will want to add more WOW by getting McFadden.
For Jerry, it’s all about selling tickets for the new stadium that opens in ‘09.
Not sure I agree with either move, but this is how Jerry thinks. He’s a businessman first, and he believes guys like Pacman and McFadden can help him win and fill his new stadium.

lasher,
In case you haven’t noticed, Adam Jones is not allowed to pursue a career as a player in the NFL. I’ll believe that Pacman is a cowboy when I see him in uniform, but not before.
Just like I’ll believe Dallas is a dominant team next year when I see it, but not before.

@samh
I should have prefaced my comment by stating, “If Florio is correct, and the signing of PacMan is “imminent” as he reports . . . . ”
My commentary on Jones stands whether he signs Adam or not however.

If you’re reading this and are responsible and/or capable of passing this message along to whomever keeps score on public opinion…please inform Jerry Jones he’s lost another LIFE long fan of the greatest sports franchise ever, the Dallas Cowboys.
The hell with JerryWorld…I will never ever spend another dime on Cowboys gear, much less step foot into the new stadium…I always wondered what it would be like to pull against Americas team…well, Mr. Jones, by trying to fish a Pacturd out the water (yes, TRYING, makes no difference now if he signs or not to me… you’re going to allow this nightmare to come true…thanks.

Money and power can never mask what a man truly is…in time their character will be revealed. Jerry, Adam, T.O. etc will implode. Respect and honor are not attributes of these men and regardless of what happens with the possible trades, the caste is set in Dallas. Thugs and ego’s, come one, come all! I am certain that Grandpa Wade will have his puppet strings firmly intact!

I cannot wait until this deal is complete. Strike that. I can’t wait until a month into camp when TO, Pacman, and the host of Irvin wannabees start trashing Dallas from end to end.
The drama of this coming season is going to unrivalled. I just hope the NFL Films budget cuts don’t hurt the next best soap opera to be….
Something tells me the Pic-Of-The Day is going to be a busy place….and real soon.

I applaud you “spanky07″!!!
A cowboys fan with class and a conscience? Rare breed indeed. The ‘boys certainly have turned into a texas version of the Raiders. Win at any cost may result is more Ws, but winning without honor leaves all fans, whether they admit it or not, with an empty feeling.
As a Redskins fan, I feel the same way about Dan Snyder.
He has ruined a once great franchise the same way Jerry Jones had ruined the Dallas Cowboys.
So spanky07, I join you in your boycott of teams with idiotic owners. If you boycott Dallas, I will continue my boycott of the Redskins until Dan Snyder is gone.

Wasting a roster spot and cap money on a guy who still — and probably never will be -reinstated is bad business. He can’t help the team if he is not allowed to play. Goodell will never reinstate Pacman until Pacman proves definitively he gets it. Based on his most recent statements, that still hasn’t happened.

If he does go to Dallas, and signs a new contract, his contract should state that he gets paid in single dollar bills.

Jerry is right. Pacman can play and if he becomes like TO then they have a dinamite player, but if he continues this stuff, then they will release him. No other team will sign if he screws this up.
For him getting to play in the nfl is a different. He should be allowed to come back, but under certain condentions: such as if he has any more arrests he is automaically suspended for 4 games, and after to arrests he should be banned from the NFL

I will love watching this train wreck next year. Its gonna be awesome when that team implodes. A QB who cant win in January, and WR who is a complete moron and now a guy who loves to go to strip clubs and make mad choice ofter bad choice. I love watching Dallas screw up. can you sat another year without a playoff win?
