Indiana freshman point guard Eric Gordon will reportedly announce his intentions to enter the NBA draft, according to the Indianapolis Star. The details of announcement are expected to be released by the university soon.
The decision comes just days after Tom Crean was announced as the new Hoosiers head coach, but that hire likely had very little to do with Gordon leaving. Most people felt this was a foregone conclusion as soon as he signed his letter of intent.
The Big Ten's leading scorer is likely to be a lottery pick in this summer's draft and could even go as high as top-5. He was the Big Ten Freshman of the Year and on just about everyone's All-American lists.
If this decision doesn't change, Crean will have an uphill struggle ahead of him in his first year at a school with high expectations. The Hoosiers will only have five scholarship players on its roster heading into 2008.
