Jays Break Out The Lumber, Pound O’s
The Blue Jays have shown solid starting pitching, a great knack for running the bases and some timely offense on their way to a strong start in ‘08. Tonight in Baltimore, we finally got a little taste of what this club is capable of offensively. Every Blue Jay got a hit and four recorded multiple hits as the Jays hammered Baltimore 11-3 to earn a series tie and remain knotted with the O’s atop the AL East.
The Blue Jays ousted Orioles starter Steve Trachsel after the vet gave up 5 runs on 5 hits in just 2 1/3 innings.
Aaron Hill batted second for the fifth time this season and fourth in the past 5 days, the spot looks to be his as he is firmly on his way to being one of the top all around second basemen in the AL, he hit a home run tonight with 3 RBI and is batting .340 on the year. This lineup will be stellar from 1-7 when Scott Rolen returns.
Is there anything that Gregg Zaun contributes that Rod Barajas does not? He is a weak link offensively for a lineup that could be very daunting. On a night when every Blue Jay was great at the plate, Zaun was so-so. He was the last Jay to get a hit and left 5 men stranded, this offense would be legitimately stronger if Rod Barajas caught daily, I am convinced.
The Jays will take on the reeling Texas Rangers tomorrow, losers of 5 straight, three of which at the hands of Toronto. First pitch is at 7:05 in Toronto as Jesse Litsch takes on Kason Gabbard.

I have been voicing my concerns about infield hitting and outfield throwing and pitching all season. I am happy you have started to notice that Zaun may not be the position player we hoped he would be. However, the pitching rotation continues to be the main concern for me. AJ AKA Blister boy is not worth it. His only place in the stadium is in the stands selling hot dogs. This puts pressure on the other pitchers especially Halladay to perform and be perfect every outing, this in turn puts pressure on the plate to leave no man stranded. The Jays are still a few players away from being great. Come on JP Riccardi there must be a better pitcher somewhere, try Shrewsbury, Worcester or Northborough little league!
