Monday’s cigarettes

April 7, 2008

And here we go again for the traditional Monday morning roundup of the news found around the European basketball world on the Internet.

  • The Rumor mill is turning and the result is that Theo Papaloukas may sign with Olympiakos next season while Antonis Fotsis may rejoin a Greek powerhouse too.
  • The Will Bynum case in Tel Aviv has been closed and all charges on him have been dropped has been reported by euroleague.net. Ball in Europe reported about his case in January when he was accused of being involved in a fight outside a Tel Aviv nightclub.
  • Well, another night another loss for Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Israelian league this weekend, and it was again against Bnei Hasharon. Maccabi lost already for the third time this season against the team of coach Effi Birnbaum
  • The ACB Top 5 features this week really a nice panel of former/future NBA players: Alex Acker, Mario Kasun, Marcus Haislip, Ricky Rubio, Rudy Fernandez, Shammond Williams and Lou Roe.
  • It was the weekend of the Bigs losing to the small teams, Olympiakos lost Panionios and Panathinaikos against AEK.
  • Rudy Fernandez had another big night this weekend and got elected MVP of the ACB.
  • Did you know the Ottoman Empire? Well, we did not know a lot about before today when Ball in Europe got hacked by some Turkish supporters of their former glories. Maybe they did not like the fact that Yarone predicted a 2-0 loss by Fenerbahce Ülker against Montepaschi Siena.
  • Sportexpress.ru reports today that Ettore Messina would not agree with Barcelona. The CSKA GM Vatutin called such information a provocation before the game against Olympiacos this week.

Sorry, but I won’t compromise on my opinions even in the cost of a Turkish hack!

      Tough!

    Got something to say?
