Eagles Select Mike Gibson With The 184th Pick
The Iggles added more offensive line depth with the pick of offensive lineman Mike Gibson from Cal. Gibson started at LT for the Golden Bears, but may be better off as a guard in the NFL. Gibson is a very physical run blocker who will add valuable depth to the offensive line.
I think it is very interesting that the Eagles chose two prospects who project to play guard, instead of tackle. Looking ahead for 2009, I think they may like the idea of moving Todd Herremans back to LT, and starting Max Jean-Gilles at guard. Mike Gibson could then find his role as the backup LG, and in an emergency he could probably play a little LT since he did so in college.
I see the line looking something like this in 2009.
| Left Tackle | Left Guard | Center | Right Guard | Right Tackle | |
| Starters | Todd Herremans | Max Jean-Gilles | Jamal Jackson | Shawn Andrews | Winston Justice |
| Reserves | King Dunlap | Mike Gibson | Mike McGlynn | Scott Young | Shawn Andrews |
