Down on the Farm Day 40 Minor Leagues 5/14/2008
The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees got bombed by the Louisville Bats by a score of 11-6. Starting for Scranton was Heath Phillips and he got absolutely rocked giving up 8 runs on 6 hits in only 1 inning of work for the loss. Three runs were unearned because of a throwing error by himself, pitcher Heath Phillips. Replacing Phillips in the second inning was Bo Hall and he gave up 2 earned runs on 6 hits in 3.1 innings of work. Following Hall was Steven Jackson and he gave up 1 earned run on 3 hits in 2.2 innings. Scott Patterson started the 8th inning and was perfect. The hitting stars for Scranton were center fielder Justin Christian , left-fielder Jason Lane, third baseman Cody Ransom and catcher JD Closser. Christian went 2 for 4 with 1 run scored and 2 rbi’s along with a home run. Lane went 3 for 4 with 1 run scored. Ransom went 2 for 5 with 1 run scored and 2 rbi’s along with a home run and Closser went 1 for 2 with 1 run scored and 2 rbi’s.

The Trenton Thunder lost a high scoring game to the Portland Sea Dogs by a score of 10-6. Starting for Trenton was Phil Coke and he gave up 3 runs on 5 hits in 5 innings. Gonzalez went 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored and Corona went 2 for 3 with 1 run scored and 2 rbi’s.

The Tampa Yankees lost to the Lakeland Flying Tigers by a score of 1-0. Starting for Tampa was Alfredo Aceves and he pitched 7 scoreless innings on 2 hits along with 7 strikouts for the no decision.
