Jon Lester throws a no-hitter!

Wow. I could definitely get used to this. Last year Clay Buchholz threw a no-hitter at Fenway Park against the Baltimore Orioles. Tonight Jon Lester threw a no-hitter at Fenway Park against the Kansas City Royals. It took him 130 pitches but he did it.
Jon Lester has beat cancer, won a World Series, and thrown the 18th no-hitter in Red Sox history all by the age of 24. Congrats man, you deserve it all.
The Red Sox are now owners of 4 of the last 6 no-hitters thrown in the American League (Hideo Nomo, Derek Lowe, Clay Buchholz, and Jon Lester.) Jason Varitek has caught all 4 of them, setting the modern-era major league record for most no-hitters caught by a single catcher.

Hi Michael,
I think Tek hold the major league record for official no-hitters caught as the rule changed in the ’90s so that a no-no that the pitcher took and lost in extra innings (after a no-no through 9) no longer counted. But I guess that’s what you meant by modern-era major league record.
