Two Pitchers Getting Back on Track

Bronson Arroyo and Matt Maloney just over a month ago were causes for concern. Arroyo, who started off the year with terrible start after terrible start where he didn't make it more than 6 innings in any of his 7 starts, has had a respectable last couple of weeks. In the last 4 starts Arroyo has posted a 2.06 ERA collecting 3 wins and 1 loss averaging just under 7 innings per start. His next start is scheduled to be against the Braves.

Matt Maloney is fresh off being named the International League pitcher of the week after falling just two outs shy of a no-hitter in Game 1 of a doubleheader against Richmond, but before that week he was far from unhittable.

Since May 7th Maloney has been lights out, allowing only 4 earned runs total in his next 4 starts. Maloney isn't considered to be that major of a prospect in the long run but he has 2 things going for him, he doesn't walk people and he is a lefty. While he may never be a top of the rotation starter I don't think its too far of a stretch to think he wouldn't be a very serviceable cheap number 5 in todays game.

BallHype: hype it up!
