Lorena pulls out of Ginn
The Ginn Tribute will be one big name down for the second year in a row. After Lorena Ochoa informed tournament officials that she was going to withdraw due to the illness of her uncle.
“I am very sorry to have to withdraw … But my uncle is very ill,” Ochoa said in a statement. “I need to be with my uncle and my family right now.” She was replaced in the field by Eva Dahllof.
The tournament officials were very understanding of Ochoa’s decision with Annika Sorenstam saying, “My thoughts and prayers are with Lorena and her family at this time,” Sorenstam said. “She is a tremendous ambassador for our game and we will miss her this week.”
This is definitly a blow to the tournament, as many recent PGA events have been with Tiger Woods absence, to not have the games top player in the field. But family is always more important and so we here at LosEstadosLatinos.com send our prayers to Ochoa’s family for a quick and full recovery for her Tio.
