Oakland Raiders silently go about their business

Do you think Nnamdi's the best? Clarke Judge doesn't

Maybe you have seen the interviews given by Lane Kiffin and JaMarcus Russell at the conclusion of Wednesday's OTA practice. It's possible that you've taken the time to either read the transcript, a story about them, or even catch some video of the 'event.' If you're like me, you were probably too tired after following the unraveling of the Javon Walker story to give it the attention that it deserves. Or maybe there wasn't anything that deserved that much attention.

I got a laugh today, while checking in at CBS Sportsline I took a look at the 'listed' Raiders injuries. The first one was Tommy Kelly and the nature of the injury just said, "knee." 'Alright,' I thought, that isn't much of an issue right now since we've been told that he should be ready by the time training camp rolls around. The next, and only, other injury, was Javon Walker with it just saying, 'head.' Yeah, tell me something I don't know.

In case you didn't hear, Tommy Kelly is no longer the highest paid defensive tackle of all time. That now goes to Tommie Harris of the Chicago Bears. Harris signed a four year contract extension with the Bears for $40 million with $18 million in guarantees and $27 million in the first three years. Do you think that anyone's going to question that like they did with the Raiders signing Kelly?

Tommie Harris: 4 years, 60 games, 139 tackles, 19.5 sacks

Tommy Kelly: 4 years, 49 games, 163 tackles, 13 sacks

I assume that the Raiders, Walker, or someone in the investigation will eventually give us the story regarding what happened. Maybe by then, I'll care again. I just hope the Raiders are done, 'gathering information.' Oh by the way, Jason Jones of the Sacramento Bee is reporting that most everyone who posted on the rumor that was started by TheDirty.com, pertaining to Walker saying he was dragged out of the Bellagio, was right. It wasn't true. The Bellagio stated,

"The facts that have been reported regarding the incident involving Javon Walker are incorrect. I am unable to provide further detail out of respect for the Metro investigation which is currently underway."

So have you guys gotten a good look at Russell lately? He's starting to look kind of skinny. This picture doesn't do him justice:

Looking a little thin

Here's a better picture. I guess we don't have to worry about him getting to 300 lbs. I wonder what the 'haters' will be telling you about him if he ends up being as good as the Raiders hoped when they drafted him? Probably something like, '5 rings,' or '19-61,' or 'Al Davis is an idiot,' or...oh wait...they're already saying that. I guess they'll be shutting up then.

I loved the part of the interview when the reporters started to get him to talk about Javon Walker, or try to get him to talk about going out.

Reporter: Do you have plans to get away at all to rest between now and training camp? I imagine all this stuff, this learning has reached a saturation point where you may need a week or a few days to just get away?
Russell: Yeah, you can only rest so much. People tell me I might get back up to 300 pounds.

I also thought it was funny that the Raiders made sure that everyone knows it was a joke by adding the '(laughter)' at the end of the quote. Anyway, it seems that JaMarcus is going to do real well handling the media around Oakland.

Speaking of media, I read an article recently by a guy who I liken to Tim Kwakami, who I'll get to in a minute. Clark Judge, who writes for CBS, usually gets it wrong and this time was no exception. In the article, he states that DeAngelo Hall's statement that he and Nnamdi Asomugha form the best cornerback tandem in the league is all wrong. In the article he states,

"The Raiders aren't the best at anything unless, of course, you're talking about losing. Their 19-61 record the past five years is the worst in the league."

He sounds a little like one of those guys I told you may be at a loss for words soon. He goes on to list other cornerback tandems that he thinks "Hall and Asomugha are trying to catch":

  1. 1. Green Bay - Charles Woodson and Al Harris
  2. 2. San Diego - Antonio Cromartie and Quentin Jammer
  3. 3. Denver - Champ Bailey and Dre' Bly
  4. 4. Dallas - Pacman Jones and Terence Newman
  5. 5. Philadelphia - Asante Samuel and Sheldon Brown with Lito Shephard coming off the bench

First off, to even add Antonio Cromartie and Quentin Jammer as an elite tandem completely destroys his own point. There's a reason why the Chargers blitz practically every play until their rush is stopped. Terence Newman is a good cornerback, but Pacman? Look, besides being made of teflon, the guy is a good return man and an average corner, but that was a year and a half ago! I like Philly's trio, but I'm not convinced that Samuel isn't completely overrated.

Unless you have the Sunday Ticket, or live in the Midwest, you probably haven't seen much of the Packers. Let me just tell you that since Woodson's been a Packer, I have seen one unlikely interception after another by him. The interceptions were unlikely, not because he was so good, but because he was so out of position and the quarterback threw the ball to nobody. There's much to like about Woodson, but his interception totals are misleading. Al Harris is still good, but he's losing a step.

I've always thought Champ Bailey was overrated. Good? Yes, very. Great? Ah, I don't know, which leads me to say, 'No.' Same goes with Dre' Bly. For that matter, same goes with DeAngelo Hall while we're at it. Nnamdi Asomugha, in my opinion, is the best cornerback in the league. Hands down, he's the best. I'll give Judge Green Bay, Denver, and Philly as on the same level, but he's going to have to finally admit that Asomugha is the best first.

Speaking of reporters having it wrong, Kwakami's article titled, "Kawakami: Might Walker join Al Davis' list of greatest mistakes?," made me feel dirty just by clicking the link. Hey Timmy, as long and as large as that list may be, his list of accomplishments still dwarfs it by a mile. Got anything to write about that?

I was going to rant a little about the Raiders bias when it comes to respect and prestige, but I'll save that for next time. It's a slow news cycle right now, but don't forget to check out our Raiders news links page if you need to get your fix. The page is version 1.0, but we thought we'd get it started and upgrade it soon to a better look.

Just kicking it around here at TFDS

well, i hate starting this comment talking about unrelated topics. how bout javon walker. man this guy makes me sick. i think al davis sohuld terminate his contract and cut him. i mean please, he is supposed to be working on chemistry with russell and instead is taking a page out of adam packman... i mean adam jone's book and making it rain in vegas. javon, al must be a little bit nicer of a business man than i, because you would be 55million poorer and doug gabriel would be wearing silver and black yet again taking your spot on the roster. Namdi is the best. hands down. better yet why not give javon's contract to Asomuga and get hime into camp. at least he has a commitment to exellence. i didn't want to belive that the raider mystique is fading, but when a raiders goes out and gets his ass kicked and robbed... well man thats not very raider like. Aso i'll keep hoping that you get your deal. at the moment it doesnt look likely that you will. i never seems to amaze me how the raiders let their "home grown" talent just walk away. Aso your my type of guy...being a cal bear alumni helps too.

to hell with javon walker.... i'll be sure to boo you when you get burned on opening day. go talk to timmy brown about hoe to build character homie.

GO RAIDERS!

I couldn't agree more with you about the picture of Russell on the Raiders website. I was like, damn he looks kinda mean and tough, where and the hell did Don Banks get the 300 lbs from. Looks like he's serious about improving himself on and off the field.

It seems as though you saw Woodson make many of the same type of interceptions that I saw Cromartie make last year. How many of his interceptions came off of tipped passes that luckily went right to him? Granted you have to give him credit for being in the vicinity of the play, but tips are a bit of luck. Conversely, when nobody even dares to throw to your side of the field, Aso, you have no chance for the pick. Unfortunately the so called sports writers just look at the stat line before they make judgment on who is the best corner. IMO Aso's impact as a shut down corner can be seen by the number of times opposing QB's tried to go over the middle to stay away. What happened is that we had two linebackers with an extrodinary amount of interceptions.

Finally, the stat line between Tommie Harris and Tommy Kelly is a lot closer than I thought. Let's hope Tommy can get healthy and improve upon those numbers.

Good article.

slickvik: you make all the raider nation look bad. at least spell the names right.. yes the raider organization (al davis) isn't perfect, but at least they're making moves for playmakers.. and javon is DEFINETELY a play maker.. if yer such a fan, you shouldnt say things like 'they should terminate his contract' ... as much as he was showing off and spraying booze everywhere, it wasnt his fault that some low life drug addict had to bash his head in.. you act like he's the one who did it himself. grow up dude and really cheer on javon and the raiders as they need your support!

but good article ... haha now i don't feel so bad about tommy kelly, now al isn't the only one handing out money like candy to almost unproven players! haha, I just hope rob ryan and al's judgement is right about kelly.. as they say he's the best 3 point man in the game. as for aso and hall ... i think they got what it takes to be #1 , esp with gibril and huff back there... waiting to lay a lick on someone.. its going to be a goo year. :D

Asoughma may be a great cover guy but what about the run? I see a lot of big RBs run by the guy, he doesnt like to take guys down, head on. If I am wrong let me know, give me some facts on his run defense. C Woodson used to come up and stop the run, since he left, the DBs arent so willing to come-up and support the line and LBs. Dont fool yourself, everyone else doesnt pass on the Raidas, cuz they are afraid of Asoughma, they run because thats easier and what works. C Woodson is a better overall player, dont forget that he played decent even when hurt, I recall Asoughma missing a few games due to minor injuries. I will add that C Woodson was notorious for "holding" though and his game did change with those new rules about contact. You talk about haters, give those other DBs respect.

--

Well, Bobbo, maybe some are "shocked" because last year Kelly started all of 6 games, and ammassed an awe inspiring ONE sack, while averaging 4 tackles a game. does that sound like record breaking dollars tossed out to you?

Add into the equation that he missed over half the season with a torn ACL and it should be quite clear why there was a resounding "WTF was Al thinking?" when it was announced.

What's interesting is there were no shortage of Raider fans who said the exact same thing.

====================================

Eggo: I wonder what the ‘haters’ will be telling you about him if he ends up being as good as the Raiders hoped when they drafted him? Probably something like, ‘5 rings,’ or ‘19-61,’ or ‘Al Davis is an idiot,’ or…oh wait…they’re already saying that. I guess they’ll be shutting up then.

Mike49er:I wonder what you'll say when he's NOT as good?

Probably something like "If Harris didn't miss all of those pass rushers, Russell wouldn't be so skittish back there" or "Walker ran a wrong route..not JRuss's fault" or "he's technically still a rookie..well..kind of still a rookie..well, Kiffin probably should have used him more in '07, so yeah, he's a rookie, and NEXT year he'll really tear it up, because boy oh boy, does he have POTENTIAL or what??? :)

or maybe you'll even run the "Why was he benched? Was he hurt? Didn't look hurt. Maybe he's hearing footsteps from his blind side? Where's McCown? "

==================================

Kind of shortens that list a bit...now...doesn't it?

Just thought I would help you out here with a few tidbits, Bobbo.

Carry on. :)

no pat he wont meet me hes a pansy, he cant even defend his lame team with THE LAST OFFENSE. plus its in oakland... and i guarrantee he has NOTHING to say when he's there.. i bet he doesnt even wear a montana throwback in fear of gettin whooped on, haha!

Hey mikewhiner,

You lonely? need friends? Hey fruitloop you have no place to talk about QB's. Who is the 49ers QB???

Shawn Hill or Shawn King or Dilfer mabey Smith will play (oh boy). Lets look at what Al's accomplished AFTER Carter wise ass. Super Bowl win, 7 AFC west championships. 3 AFC Championship games. Lets try to name some of the players Al brought in. Tim Brown, Charles Woodson, Eric Allen, Rod Woodson, Romo, Gannon, Williams, Aso, There is many more I'm just tired of wasting my time on a clown like you. I'm not bashing the 49ers during this time (they had one hell of a run). I'm just responding to your asinine comments. Don't Hate

Pat T Clinton was not in office in 02 (SB was actually 03 anyway) Bush was in office. Which makes the argument even more relevant when you think about it. I think Bush Sr was in office the last time the Niners made any noise.

Mikewhiner reminds me of that spoiled little fragile kid who's parents were overprotective and wouldn't let him leave the yard. So all he could do was watch the other kids (Raider fans) play war and football in the street from the safety of this own boring fenced in area. Look at the pale weasly little feller crying because he has no friends.

Guys, guys, guys. We're doing our job and converting him to MikeR8R. It's taking longer than we'd hoped, but we'll surely succeed.

MikeR8R - Great post. It's true that the signing shocked everyone, but the fact remains that Kelly can play defensive end as well as defensive tackle. Did signing him for that much money shock me? Uh, yeah. Do I care how much he makes? If he doesn't play well and the Raiders cap is strapped because of it...yeah. I'd rather give it a season where he's finally THE man and see what happens before passing judgement. Ok, at least half the year.

"Mike49er:I wonder what you’ll say when he’s NOT as good?"

It's possible, that I may be saying that he was ruined by not having his blindside protected. I've said that about many QB's, including Alex Smith(even though I thought they should've drafted Rodgers instead). If JRuss is bad, you know that I'll tell it that way. I won't sugar coat anything, and besides I'm still a pretty big fan of the backups on this team too. I don't think I'll be asking about McCown though(even though I liked him enough).

"Mike49er: I suspect Kawakami forgot to add the disclaimer: “We’re talking about what Al’s accomplished since Jimmy Carter was President…which was FOUR DECADES AGO.”

Kind of shortens that list a bit…now…doesn’t it?

Just thought I would help you out here with a few tidbits, Bobbo.

Yes, it shortens the list. Since we're shortening the list though, let's go back to the beginning of Clinton's second term and see what the Niners have done. I mean, I can shorten where I want right? Oh, by the way, since Carter, the Raiders have still been to 3 Super Bowls and won two of them, which is still pretty good.

Thanks for the help on the tidbits Mike. It's been a while since you haven't agreed with me. :-)

I'll carry on now.

Quit your damn crying, little boy.

Now, you have a choice. You can continue making it quite clear you have shit for brains, and have wisely been reduced to begging me to stop bitchslapping your idiot takes..or you can hike up your skirt, and get help.

Congrats on one thing..you've made it to a very elite group.

Yes, it's been up in the air. Many were in the running.

The requirements were few.

Asinine takes.

Quick to rush for help, AKA "propping others, hoping they'll help you up as well"

And most importantly.."When bitchslapped, resort to repeated BEGS for other posters to "leave me alone..LEAVE ME ALONE..I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY ANYMORE..YOU KEEP EMBARRASSING ME"

And WE HAVE A WINNER :)

The final member of the MVN RAIDERS CHAPTER-3 STOOGES.

LDizzle was the first annointed, in a landslide.

Close behind is another "dumber than cotton" poster, Patty.

And now we round it out with OshKosh, who's arguably the biggest crier on the board.

Congrats to all of the above.

You're little yellow ribbon, and your new purses are in the mail.

Oh..and I love the "I'll be at the raider game..let's arrange a get together".

Sure bitch..you make sure you bring your Mom.

If she's hot, maybe I'll let you off with just a scolding.

Now get back to crying..and again, we're all proud of you for your awesome accomplishments.

Mike49er: First off, you've been forbidden to EVER mention being called out.

You STUPIDLY said the same thing elsewhere.

I bitchslapped you and LittleDizzle into running with tail between legs.

At this point, your sorryass has ZERO credibility.

That's what makes so many of the Raider postes here a joke..very few can actually discuss the team. YOU aren't one of them.

http://mvn.com/nfl-raiders/2008/06/12/safties-of-the-afc-west-from-an-oakland-raiders-eye-view/

Now, again, I post that to laugh at you. to prove my point. To know you're wishing you had shut your trap.

Anyone can mouth off. Backing up their words is something most Raider posters here are incapable of.

Oh, and congrats to YOU as well on making it quite clear you're a Stooge of unheard of nature.

------

But on the real you tlk about success 4 decades ago? We were in the superbowl in 2002? Im not sure but i think Bill Clinton was cheating on Hilary around that time huh? The Whiners though last time you had success was, wait wait dont tell me… Oh yeah when Steve Young still played… hahaha…

Mike49er: Wrong again, Stooge. You FAILED in '02. There is no glory in failing, MORON. One winner, the rest failed. The Niners got in the playoffs in '02. Raiders got in the playoffs in '02. Both went home LOSERS for the year.

Your last taste of glory was EXACTLY A QUARTER OF A CENTURY AGO. Because I'm know you're "slow" that means 25 years ago.

Yeah, the Raiders? Haven't won the big one in OVER A QUARTER OF A CENTURY.

Take your time on that, Stooge.

Your right i dont know what we’ll say if J.R turns out to be a bust… So how about you tell us just in case what to say when you draft a BUST a QB(Alex Smith)

Mike49er: PattyStooge? when are you going to learn?

I'm tired of repeating myself to some of you "challenged" posters"

I know you read it, because it's from the above linked thread you bailed like a little bitch from, so here, read it again. Take your time. Ask for help with the big words.

PREVIOUSLY POSTED FOR THE SLOW AT COMPREHENSION:

oh yea ps GO ALEX SMITH ITS YER YEAR BABY! LMAO. every year i hear “alex smith is showing strides in practice” hahah thats about the only strides he has… practice throws.

Mike49er: Practice?? You have to get off those drugs, buddy, your memory is going. Prior to getting injured in 07 Smith won 3 of 4 games. Year before was Smith’s first full year. Was the first qb in 49er HISTORY to play every down for the year. Just missed the playoffs by one game. qb rating was 75 for the year. Considering that Ben Roethlisberger was rated at 75, as was Michael Vick, and that Eli Manning and Hasselbeck were also at 76 and 77, and that Bret Farve was at 72, I’m not going to complain all that much. Now, gosh…I wonder..where was the Raiders qb rating for ‘06??? DEAD LAST, at that awe inspiring qb of 54. lol…and who was that killer qb? WALTER.

Now, if you want to look at completion % for Smith’s only full year, he was AHEAD of Manning, McNabb, Hasselbeck, Farve, Vick…and WAY ahead of Walter, lol.

What else would you like?

How about yards? MORE THAN Jake Delhomme, Vick, Leinart, McNabb, Hasselbeck, Young, ..

In other words, Smith, in his first full year, wasn’t as good as some, was better than a lot.

See, I can deal with a qb in his first full year having better stats than a Manning, Vick, or Farve, or even Ben. I can deal with his stats being close to a hell of a lot of others who did better, marginally, in many areas.

Like I said, prior to getting injured against Seattle, Smith beat Denver, Rams, and Cards, while losing to Pittsburg.

I call that progressing. I call his ‘06 season a big step from his rookie handful of games that he got thrown in to “learn”.

Now, considering the Raiders were AT THE BOTTOM for most categories, I’ll let YOU figure out which teams qb SUCKS, lol

As well, I let YOU figure out that if your current ‘ROOKIE” QB who honestly looked lost last year, goes down??? THAT GUY WHO SUCKED IN ‘06 IS WHO A LOT OF YOU ARE SAYING WILL DO JUST FINE.

You and I know differently, though…lol…don’t we?

--

… Fine we did over pay Tommy Kelly but before his injury he had been doing pretty good and was a player on the rise…

Mike49er: Before his injury he looked like CRAP. ONE sack in 7 games played...ONE. YPC while Kelly was in was 5.2. ONCE HE WENT ON IR your defense immediately got better, and the rest of the games averaged 4.7 YPC.

Yep, PattyStooge, you guys blew it.big time.

Mikey, Mikey, Mikey!

Man are you one poor, idiotic fool! I read your comment from the "Changes coming to TFDS" article and I appologize for not responding earlier, Mikey!

You go on to say that I have never replied to any of your comments and dont even know you?!? You have seriously go to be kiding me? Maybe you should start replying to some of those comments I post and just maybe then you will know, give that a thought?

Why is it whenever someone goes on to bash on what you have said and prove you completely stupid, you never even care to look at the webpage again let alone leave a response?

You can start by giving your opinion on what Rob just said about you above? Hey, you found it simple to pick on OGKUSH after Rob replied to you. Why didnt you go on respond to Rob's instead?!?!

I know why... maybe because you have nothing to say Mikey. Maybe you know your whiners suck so you just try to ease your suffering by picking on a team that is way better?!?!

Nolan can kiss my ass next season. The poor fool doesnt know what mess of a franchise he has got himself into. I heard rumors that he was taking a leave next season but hey lets just say it was his father's fault for ever associating with such a team!

Have a nice day!

Now, speaking about head up ass comments..(well, we weren't but who cares? :) ) I thought you might want another chance to defend some of YOUR idiot words.

See, it was YOU that ran that weak Alex Smith take. And, as expected, you hid like a little slapped on child (see above about age request) when schooled.

But, LMFAO, YOU ALSO MADE ONE OF THE DUMBEST COMMENTS I'VE EVER SEEN ON ANY BOARD..

OshKosh Stooge:

, tui is a good veteran for j-russ, hopefully he can show the kid how to run the ball better as tui had 20 rushing TDs on the raiders …

Mike49er: OshKosh??? Tui??? Tuiasosopo??? Good veteran??? 20 rushing td’s?????

Is there another Tuiasosopo in the league?

The Marcus guy had ZERO rushing td’s with the Raiders.

In 7 years I think he’s had less than 75 yards TOTAL rushing.

qb rating of under 50, as I recall.

You sure you have the right team, oshkosh??

Mikey, Mikey, Mikey!

Man are you one poor, idiotic fool! I read your comment from the “Changes coming to TFDS” article and I appologize for not responding earlier, Mikey!

Mike49er: Don't let it happen again. :)

-------

You go on to say that I have never replied to any of your comments and dont even know you?!? You have seriously go to be kiding me? Maybe you should start replying to some of those comments I post and just maybe then you will know, give that a thought?

Mike49er: In that case, my bad. Problem with this site is there is no easy way to go back and follow up on posts previously made. As well, it's archaic setup allows even popular threads to just drift off, regardless of how busy. This setup worked in the 80's, little behind the times.

Interesting that also applies to Al, lol.

----

Why is it whenever someone goes on to bash on what you have said and prove you completely stupid, you never even care to look at the webpage again let alone leave a response?

Mike49er: Tell you what...MY CHALLENGE TO YOU is post a link where YOU think YOU proved anyone stupid.

Now, don't bail. Don't whimper off. don't pretend all of a sudden you can't read...POST A LINK. My money says you did none of the above.----

You can start by giving your opinion on what Rob just said about you above? Hey, you found it simple to pick on OGKUSH after Rob replied to you. Why didnt you go on respond to Rob’s instead?!?!

Mike49er: You're new, obviously. See above comment. I ALWAYS BACK UP MY WORDS, much to the chagrin of many. Unlike MOST HERE, if someone challenges what I said, I don't slinker off, nothing to say, hoping it goes away.

Yeah, if you show up DAYS LATER on a thread, chances are me, nor anyone will see it because this board is, as I stated, difficult to follow up previous posts on.

If it will make you feel better, I'll reply to Rob's post after this one.

You ok now, pumpkin?

Mike49er: In other words, I'M RIGHT. yeah, I know. No kidding. Someone told you that Tui was a good veteran for JRuss..AND YOU BELIEVED HIM?

He also told you he had 20 rushing TD's for the Raiders..and you BELIEVED HIM??

As I stated, YOU DON'T KNOW A DAMN THING ABOUT THE RAIDERS, DO YOU? How can you possibly not know Tui didn't only have a very small amount of playing time, but in his few times out there was unproductive? Again, YOU DON'T FOLLOW THE TEAM, DO YOU?

Obviously, that's a rhetorical question.

Now shut up before you hurt yourself.

-you are a sad lil whiner fan. yer sittin here sayin things like WHERES MCCLOWN .. dude WAKE UP HES BETTER THAN ALEX SMITH ANYDAY hahah that horrible, 30mill down the drain.

Mike49er: No, NITWIT. What I said is the Raiders will be missing McCown, fool.

You don't do well with comprehension, do you?

=====================================

AND PLUS, you still have nothing to say to defend your team… everyone’s been clownin on the niners and you can’t counter it, yer just spittin out more pointless dribble… you are truly pathetic kid-o.

Mike49er: I reply to EVERY comment regarding the Niners. Read above. See, YOU have nothing to say about anything regarding football, because you're an idiot. That's a fact.

You're welcome to correct anything I said above.

You can't. Thinking isn't your strong suit.

Acting like a fool, however, is.

Mike49er: LMFAO. Yeah, I did answer you..above...IDIOT. Get your mom to read it to you.

Again, HOW OLD ARE YOU?

You spell like you're 12. Seriously "where the dress'???

So..age??? What? that question confuses you as well? Something tells me if you add 12 to the total amount of Tui's TD's, you've got your age.

Am I close?

Rob aka Bobbo aka Eggo:Guys, guys, guys. We’re doing our job and converting him to MikeR8R. It’s taking longer than we’d hoped, but we’ll surely succeed.

Mike49er: If it's like how the Raiders have succeeded, I'm safe for DECADES :)

====================================

MikeR8R - Great post. It’s true that the signing shocked everyone, but the fact remains that Kelly can play defensive end as well as defensive tackle.

Mike49er: As you might recall, I stated that exact thing..as well, it was while I was detailing that is why signing Dorsey would have strengthened your defensive line much more than signing McFumble strengthened your already solid running game.

-

Did signing him for that much money shock me? Uh, yeah. Do I care how much he makes? If he doesn’t play well and the Raiders cap is strapped because of it…yeah. I’d rather give it a season where he’s finally THE man and see what happens before passing judgement. Ok, at least half the year.

Mike49er: Fair enough. SEE RAIDER FANS..an honest reply. Not sugar coated, NO BS, not "he's going to be a massive stud"..someone who is hopeful, yet realistic.

Here's an additional point, Bobbo. Al seems to be doing NOW what that ass Carmen Policy did just prior to leaving..mortgaged the farm for one years crop, even though forecasts said 'no rain in sight".

Policy tossed out HUGE bucks to Garcia, redoing his contract, EARLY, and gave him an additional 14 million in bonus money. Did the same with JJ Stokes, and others. Paid WAY TO MUCH, and put us in salary cap hell for years. Had to pay off the ghost money 3 years after Stokes and Garcia were gone, and had to let players go that we could no longer afford, including TO, and Julian Petersen. You look at all the bonus money you have out there, and if some or a lot of it gets escalated, you're in big trouble, right?

-------

“Mike49er:I wonder what you’ll say when he’s NOT as good?”

It’s possible, that I may be saying that he was ruined by not having his blindside protected.

Mike49er: I've seen way to much of Kwame to just be blowing smoke. Kwame started out at LT and was horrible. Garcia was getting nonstop pressure. then to RT, where he again was a turnstyle. Defenses were putting their stronger guys over him, knowing he was easy on pass rushes. He is good on the run, however.

==================================

I’ve said that about many QB’s, including Alex Smith(even though I thought they should’ve drafted Rodgers instead).

Mike49er: Easy to say now. However, was pretty universal outside the immediate Rogers family that Smith was the better choice. The fact Rogers didn't get picked until the 26th pick said other teams, including the Raiders, felt the same thing.

-------

If JRuss is bad, you know that I’ll tell it that way. I won’t sugar coat anything, and besides I’m still a pretty big fan of the backups on this team too. I don’t think I’ll be asking about McCown though(even though I liked him enough).

Mike49er: McCown, while not stellar as a starter, sure was a solid backup. so, who do you want in? Walter? Strong arm, little mobility, or Tui? Great mobility, little opportunities?

I'm on record in the past of saying Tui deserves a chance, and has shown a lot for his limited time.

Interesting how we all forgive a rookie his mistakes..his fumbles..his interceptions..his bad reads..his forcing the ball in..his trying to make something happen when he should have just thrown it away..yet in Tui's case, he's never been afforded that.

You remember the game Gannon went down, and Tui went in?

Forget how much time there was, but he drove the team down the field, made some very good reads along the way, sidestepped out of trouble, and actually, while in the grasp, made a great throw to Tim Brown, who was on the one, to win the game..where Brown fell in the wrong direction, and time ran out???

Also felt Tui deserved those 4 games Norv told him "It's yours. Let's see what you have" before Al yanked them back, and gave it to Collins, who promptly lost them all.

Tui just might be a surprise, and remember, I called it YEARS AGO.

I'm sure those threads are still on other Raider boards, lol...

=====================================

“Mike49er: I suspect Kawakami forgot to add the disclaimer: “We’re talking about what Al’s accomplished since Jimmy Carter was President…which was FOUR DECADES AGO.”

Kind of shortens that list a bit…now…doesn’t it?

Just thought I would help you out here with a few tidbits, Bobbo.

Carry on. :)”

Yes, it shortens the list. Since we’re shortening the list though, let’s go back to the beginning of Clinton’s second term and see what the Niners have done. I mean, I can shorten where I want right? Oh, by the way, since Carter, the Raiders have still been to 3 Super Bowls and won two of them, which is still pretty good.

Mike49er: Sure, you can shorten wherever you like. We can always compare. :)

I'll make it simple.

When Leave it to Beaver was on TV, the Raiders were better than the Niners.

Since then...well...you know the rest ;)

================================

Thanks for the help on the tidbits Mike. It’s been a while since you haven’t agreed with me.

I’ll carry on now.

Mike49er: You're welcome.

It is my way. :)

==============================

Kelly won't be one of the top paid DT's for more than two years....in three he won't be in the top 5. It all comes down to performance.

==============================

Jamarcus will have the running weapons to take his time. If, and I stress IF, the Raiders can develop and maintain an effective running attack, the pressure to develop and polish Russell will be lessened.

==============================

Receiving cores vary so dramatically in the NFL that based on your schedule that year, you could face great passing games every week....or miss them for weeks at a time. Cornerbacks then get the benefit of that. Rob and I could probably shut down a few teams on any given Sunday, right RC?

==============================

Go Raiders!!!

Can we get back to talking about football? I think the title of the post was something about The Raiders Taking care of thier business. If the Raiders are taking care of business, what is up with Aso? Why is Jordan still on the team? Why is it that when Macfadden signs something he won't put his jersey number next to his name? Is he not going to be #20 for long? If that is the case I feel sorry for all the guys who already paid for their #20 jersey. There is news out there. We don't need to waste so much time on a Hater like MIke.

Silver&Black - Receiving cores vary so dramatically in the NFL that based on your schedule that year, you could face great passing games every week….or miss them for weeks at a time. Cornerbacks then get the benefit of that. Rob and I could probably shut down a few teams on any given Sunday, right RC?

That's right man, but please call me 'Lester' or 'The Judge.' ;-) Actually, if the defense was cover 2, I think I could get on the field right now, but if you want me to play man to man, I need to get to practice and conditioning. LOL!

Everyone - These are great posts! Thanks to everyone from Patrick and I for coming by and supporting The Dark Side!! Go Raiders!!

UberBitch: (Anyone reading this will do well to read my comment from before for optimal understanding, Thank You!)

……………….***…………………………….***…………………….

Whiner says:

In that case, my bad. Problem with this site is there is no easy way to go back and follow up on posts previously made. As well, it’s archaic setup allows even popular threads to just drift off, regardless of how busy. This setup worked in the 80’s, little behind the times.

Interesting that also applies to Al, lol.

Umer says:

Sure, little Mikey, Sure!

Mike49er: ROFLMFAO..you actually felt compelled to post all that to say "Sure"????

Well, fool, I just shit down your neck on both of those threads, lol...I mean, big time.

You actually stood tall posting that asinine crap?

ARE YOU SERIOUS???

You actually thought that head up ass ignorant take on both of those threads were something YOU'RE PROUD OF??

Dude..like I said..you should have left well enough alone.

Bad news for you? There is no 4 Stooges..only three. You're out.

If only, huh?

…………..***……………………………….***………………………

Whiner whines:

Tell you what…MY CHALLENGE TO YOU is post a link where YOU think YOU proved anyone stupid.

Now, don’t bail. Don’t whimper off. don’t pretend all of a sudden you can’t read…POST A LINK. My money says you did none of the above

Umer says:

I accept that offer, Whiner! It’s a fact that whenever you get bashed upon, you never have the courage to reply to me or to anyone! I know what you’ re thinking whiner… “Man, I was hoping they would never find out…” or “Yeah I just don’t have anything to say since I know I’m wrong”. But hey just to prove it to you, here are two links. You usually seem so anxious to reply to us all, Whiner! Why didn’t you care to reply there and then, huh?!? By the way, I was ‘Raider Till Death!’ in the second link! Loser! I have been remembering these articles for a long time just for you, special little Mikey!

http://mvn.com/nfl-raiders/200.....er-nation/

Mike49er: Oh geez..I need one of those little smileys that roll and roll..laughing and laughing..because that's what I doing right now, foolish boy.

First off "I was Raider tell death'?? Why the hell change your handle? I mean, sure, it was stupid, weak, and kind of a joke..but UberBitch??

Secondly..didn't reply to YOU??? You're tantamount to a flea.

I JUST SHIT DOWN YOUR NECK ON THOSE THEADS, fool...laughing the whole time.

I was going to copy and paste over here, but hey, this is already long..so..WHY DON'T YOU DO JUST THAT??

Yeah..read that again..copy and paste my reply to you, from both of those threads, over here.

Well??? lol...get it to it, boy.

And honestly..the topper??? What almost made me fall off my chair laughing was the comment from you, above: "I have been remembering these articles for a long time just for you, special little Mikey!"

You actually have been REMEMBERING THOSE ARTICLES FOR LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS?? Damn..now I know why you got your dress all ruffled when I said 'Who are you'?

You replied :"Are you serious?? You don't know who I am"????

Not sure what's sadder.

You sitting there thinking about those theads.

You realizing it was so weak I didn't even recall you.

Or you now realizing it was, in fact, weak as hell, and that what you perceived as a good take showed you to be an idiot.

Pick one, lol...or two.

Whiner whines:

You’re new, obviously. See above comment. I ALWAYS BACK UP MY WORDS, much to the chagrin of many. Unlike MOST HERE, if someone challenges what I said, I don’t slinker off, nothing to say, hoping it goes away.

Yeah, if you show up DAYS LATER on a thread, chances are me, nor anyone will see it because this board is, as I stated, difficult to follow up previous posts on.

If it will make you feel better, I’ll reply to Rob’s post after this one.

You ok now, pumpkin?

Umer Says:

Oh, don’t cry Mikey! Its ok, Mikey, Mommy will console your poor, pitiful soul! Oh Im sorry, I didn’t know your mom left you because she was too ashamed to have a mentally-ill, disfigured creature such as yourself (no hard feelings but its life, man!)

Mike49er: ??? See above comment about how I'm a damn magnet to idiot kids...*sigh*.

Seriously. Every board I get little kids who get all butthurt if they get ignored. All pushed out of shape when they flounder, and then they're reduced to the above.

Honestly, it's not even worth a reply. Makes no sense.

Yes, yes, I know..to YOU it makes you giggle.

I'm happy for you.

………….***……………………………….***……………………….

Whiner STILL whines:

And maybe you’re a full blown moron. Actually, take the maybe off. ALL ROB MENTIONED of the Niners is we could have signed Rogers, NITWIT. What part of that got you all giddy? lol.

And one thing I’ve NEVER been accused of is having nothing to say. Hell, my posts constitute “Novel length” for the 3 Stooges on this board. They schedule reading it in shifts, hoping to lessen brain freeze.

Umer Says:

Easy there Whiner! I wasn’t just referring to Rob’s post, I was talking about every one of those comments you failed to reply to. The fact is that you know your team is a deplorable, hell of loser franchise and so to rid yourself of the embarrassment, you chose to come to this Raiders blog and blabbar about a team that is more than likely going to win a lot more games than you are! Giving your pick to New England, was Nolan mad in the brain?!? He must have been being in the company of ‘creatures’ such as your kind?!?

Mike49er: "Creatures, such as your kind"??

You know, the neat thing about message boards is pretty much any age can post.

Why do I just not want to believe you're an adult?

At some point I realize I'm exchanging comments with someone who's either very very young, or a seriously challenged adult.

No, not saying you or anyone is below anyone, but exchanging with kids is something I avoid.

It's just not worth it.

"Creatures, such as yourself' should make it quite clear, exactly, what level you aspire to reach here.

Yes, I'm going to finish torching your sorry inept ass, considering I started.

But thanks for clearing up any questions as to how to view you in the future.

I suppose "Raiders tell death" should have tipped me off, lol.

===========================================

………….***……………………………….***………………………

Whiner CONTINUES to whine:

LMAO. All Nolan knows it could always be worse. he could have signed with the Raiders.

Naw, lol…NO ONE in the NFL wants anything to do with that Joke of the Bay, now, do they? As far as your last sentence regarding “father’s fault”?? Again, laughing my ass off at you for that silly crap. Why, oh why do I just KNOW you won’t post a link to where YOU FELT PROUD??? Care to bet me????? And care to bet me I won’t send you off, looking the fool??

I mean. anymore than you look at this moment?

Umer replies:

Nolan did us all a favor for not choosing the better franchise across the Bay, retard (as if we would have chosen a hideous creature of whiner decadence to be with us anyway!). He can stink and rot in Candlewick Park for all we care! By the way in case if you didn’t know, Mike Nolan’s dad is Dick “The Dick sucker” Nolan who was the whiners head coach till 1975. So its not Mike’s fault after all for having whiner blood in him! Poor, poor Mike (Im talking about the coach not you Mikey whiner, you are just a piece of shit!)!

Hey I got you two links and I heard you wanted to bet! Poor loser! “The trick is to get the water off the computer”, my ass! Go suck Dick Nolan’s dead dick retard!

I will be waiting!

MIKE49ER:

You know, I suspect right about now the Mods are muttering "oh damn. Please don't stoop to that. We don't need that crap here."

I heartily agree.

"The Dick sucker Nolan"????

"Go suck Dick Nolan’s dead dick retard!"??????

I'm embarrassed for you.

No, that's not BS.

You're actually reduced to that 5th grade crap??

And you want me to what
