Proctor Really Was Hurt; Falkenborg Gets Called Up

I sorta expected something like this, but I was suprised at how long it took for him to admit it. Proctor only told the Dodgers that he was hurting after it was announced that he was being optioned to AAA.

"The Dodgers announced on Wednesday that reliever Scott Proctor had been optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas.

Then they announced he had been placed on the disabled list with a sore elbow.

Proctor said he he's been pitching hurt 'for a month, a month and a half,' in part because he didn't want to put a burden on a short-handed bullpen.

Manager Joe Torre said Proctor's command was an indication that something was wrong, but the pitcher admitted he was injured only after being told he would be optioned."
I will never understand why certain players use this logic. Newsflash, when you're performing well below your normal level because you're injured, you're probably already hurting the team. Going on the disabled list is not hurting the Dodgers, Scott. The only thing you hurt was your own career.

Taking over Proctor's spot on the roster will be Brian Falkenborg, who sucks, but he'll still have to try really hard to be worse than Proctor was. To make room for him on the 40-man roster, Gary Bennett was moved to the 60-day DL.
"Brian Falkenborg was purchased from Las Vegas to take Proctor's spot in the bullpen and backup catcher Gary Bennett was moved from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list to open a 40-man roster spot for Falkenborg. Players on the 60-day DL don't count against the 40-man roster."
Sure, Bennett is hurt to a certain extent, but the bigger problem is that he's a head case. Dude can't throw the ball back to the pitcher anymore. By the way, he was another quality signing by Ned.
