D’Antoni- The Innovator
By Tommy Dee - Jul 8, 2008 9:55 am

What we love here is D’Antoni starts Marion as screener on the block, allowing for mid-paint penetration by the guard off the curl. This forces the defense to help middle, and watch as Marion fades to the opposite corner for a wide open three. Replace Marion with Gallinari or Wilson Chandler in this set.

You can see here why D’Antoni loves big guys who can shoot, and why I think Al Harrington would be a perfect fit at the 4. Play 1: A lot of post entry passes and back cuts, but watch Rasheed Wallace get sucked in, allowing for a perfectly timed Nash screen to free Amare for an open shot.
Play 2: Perfect back cut  after Tayshaun Prince falls asleep. Yes, All-NBA defender Tayshaun Prince.

Would Brian Cook be a player that anyone would be interested in trading for? He’s a big forward who can shoot the three. Just a thought. I still think that Fazekas would be nice, but Cook could maybe excel with Coach Mike. With the Magic losing potentially both Dooling and Arroyo, maybe they take Mardy Collins for him if he has a good summer league.

Looking at that first clip, that play looks good for a guy like Marbury.

As much as I do not like this guy and want him off the team, maybe he surprises this year. Maybe…

I wonder if Joe D would bite on

Jamal/ Zach/ Balkman or Chandler for Sheed/ Rip?

That would make our cap situation much, much better

Or hell, how about just

Balkman and Jamal for Rip. That saves us a year of salary at the very least. It brings us a better 3 point shooter and more vertern know-how.
