Braves GM A Frequent Flyer Felon?

Jul 8, 2008

Frank Wren, Jeff Francoeur and the Case of Sky Miles Manipulation

Atlanta, GA - The FAA has launched a frequent flyer abuse probe into Atlanta Braves general manager Frank Wren’s decision to send outfielder Jeff Francoeur to Mississippi and return him to Atlanta three days later.

“This doesn’t pass our smell test,” commented an FAA official, who reported that his office found it “counter-intuitive” that the Braves would send a player on track to drive in more than 80 runs back to the minors – for four days.

“I mean what did they expect Mr. Francoeur to learn in the three games he played, how to hit?” wondered the official who requested anonymity. “There has to be another reason.”

Sources close to the Braves organization report that in recent days Mr. Wren had been complaining about the price of airline travel and was obsessed with his Delta Sky Miles frequent flyer account.

“He was short on miles,” said the employee who asked – for “obvious reasons” - to have his identity withheld. “And it was driving him nuts. So he decided to farm Francoeur out. And if Francoeur wanted back to the Bigs, his frequent flyer miles had to go into Wren’s account.”

“The Delta Frequent Flyer people know everything I’m doing,” said a curt Mr. Wren when reached by eTrueSports.

“I don’t want to get into any trouble,” said Francoeur, “all I want to do is play ball. That’s what I did, and that’s what I’m gonna do.”

“If I was Mr. Wren I wouldn’t be taking any airplane trips in the near future,” said the FAA official. “We take frequent flyer felonies very seriously.”
