In no surprise to anyone, the Dallas Cowboys will be releasing wide receiver Terry Glenn. The Dallas Morning News is reporting that Jerry Jones finally decided to part ways with Glenn. The door has been left open thou for Glenn to return if he can get healthy and fails to find a new team. Currently the hot rumor is that Terry will wind up playing for the Miami Dolphins and former Coach Bill Parcells, only if he can pass a physical thou.

“At the end of the day I thought the best thing to do was just to go ahead and waive him,” Jones said. “If we want to do something in the future, we’ll do it at a good arms length. He’s has as a good a will as any player we’ve had. I know we have his good will,” Jones said of Glenn. We’ll see what happens down the road.”

The issue with Glenn and the Cowboys has been his right knee. Glenn underwent two operations on the knee last season but did return for the team’s Divisional Playoff match-up with the New York Giants. He performed well in that game but the team wanted to put some safe guards in place should Glenn re-injure that knee. Can’t say I blame them.

Dallas was looking for Glenn to sign an injury settlement that would have paid him $500,000 if he got hurt again. His contract called for him to earn $1.74 million. Glenn obviously had no intentions of signing a deal like that. In response, the Cowboys told him he wasn’t allowed to participate in any offseason workouts and couldn’t show up to camp till the deal was signed.

That brings us to the present day. ESPN.com had a report a little earlier this evening that said Glenn and the Cowboys reached a deal. Glenn agreeing to the terms is basically what that deal was but it was too little too late as Jerry Jones decided to move on.

“We’ve been working for weeks with Terry’s representative, looking at how might structure something, as it pertains to the preseason, as well as going into the season,” Jones said. “At the end of the day, we’re waiving Terry this afternoon. We’re going on down the road and seeing where we are.”

The Cowboys once again are the preseason toast of the NFC. Will they get the job done this year, or falter down the wire? Only thing for certain is their fans will be there trying to will them to victory.
