Adrian Beltre is rumored to be of interest to the Twins - Fantasy take: This would be an upgrade for Beltre as he would move from a pitchers park to the Metrodome and would have better protection around him in the lineup. A good move for Beltre owners if it happens.
A.J. Burnett to . . . ? - Fantasy Take: Burnett is a good pitcher fantasy wise but it is hard to make a judgement on pitchers without knowing where they will land. One team mentioned in a lot of chatter is the Phillies. Should Burnett land in Philadelphia his value would likely increase slightly due to the added run support the Phillies could provide plus the expected help that his ERA and WHIP would get switching leagues.
Brian Fuentes - Fantasy Take: The danger for current owners is that Fuentes will likely join contenders as a set up man killing some of his value. The real fantasy gains will be made by looking at who could replace him. Taylor Buchholz has pitched well this season but Manuel Corpas handled the job effectively last year. I would think Buchholz has the slight edge so be prepared to jump on him if news of a trade breaks.
Mets Outfield - With Moises Alou out for the season the Mets are in the market for Outfield help. Fantasy Take: Matt Holliday, Raul Ibanez, Jason Bay, Xavier Nady and Casey Blake have all been mentioned as possible replacements. Ibanez, Nady and Blake would all get a fantasy boost from moving to the NY lineup while Holliday and Bay wouldn’t see their value drop. Keep an eye on this situation to see where the Mets go as it could be a valuable boost to some of these players value.
Mark Teixeria to the Red Sox - Fantasy Take: The biggest news of this trade wouldn’t be Teixeria’s value as it would stay high but that the Red Sox feel David Ortiz won’t return this season. Ortiz owners might monitor the trade chatter to get a feel on how confident the Sox are that he won’t require surgery.
