Xavier Nady & Damaso Marte will be wearing pinstripes soon.
Well you can scratch Damaso Marte and Xavier Nady’s names from players that were available at the trade deadline as the Pirates have traded them to the New York Yankees for Ross Ohlendorf, Jose Tabata, Phil Coke and George Kontos.
The trade will become official when all players have been cleared medically.
It definitely appeared that something was in the air when Nady was removed from the Pirates game tonight in the 2nd inning. The same holds true for Coke, who was pulled from his start for the Trenton Thunder early on too.

I dont like this. Its not a huge trade but it plugs some of their holes for now.

It does give them a left-hand arm in the bullpen which is something they don’t have. They must obviously think Brett Gardner isn’t the answer in left field with Matsui out and Damon not what he used to be.

I don’t like this either.
And to think how much affect one drunk driver had on the lives of all these players, teams, and their fans when Duaner Sanchez was in the accident back in 2006…

The trade has been reworked. From Pete Abraham:
The Yankees are sending RHP Dan McCutchen, RHP Jeff Karstens, OF Jose Tabata and RHP Ross Ohlendorf to Pittsburgh for Xavier Nady and Damaso Marte.
LHP Phil Coke and RHP George Kontos are not in the deal.
