Yeah, it's official, the honeymoon is over. After going 1 for 3 in today's 4-1 win against the Cardinals, Manny's average with the Dodgers has plummeted to a pathetic .565. So while I understand that the Dodgers traded for him recently, i'm just not sure he's even worth having on the roster with those numbers.
The situation becomes especially negative when you consider that Manny's causing such a ruckus in the clubhouse. For example, during today's game, he created an extremely awkward moment for Matt Kemp when he hugged him. Was he hitting on him? Was he mocking him? Nobody knows! I just hope he apologized to Matt after the game. And to make matters worse, Manny did all that after he had grounded into a double play, further showing that he just doesn't care about the game. What a selfish guy.
But clubhouse distractions aside, the guy just hasn't done what the Dodgers got him to do. Manny's supposed to be a home run hitter, but he only has 4 for the Dodgers, which ranks him a mere 9th on the team. He's also supposed to be a run producer, right? Well Manny's not doing that either, because he only has 9 RBI and 7 runs scored, both of which rank well behind Andruw Jones and Juan Pierre on the season.
Yeah, his OPS might be a decent 1.905 as a Dodger, but the Dodgers are only 3-3 since his acquisition, which is obviously Manny's fault. Put that into the mix with his lack of home runs, his lack of runs scored, his lack of runs batted in, his recent slump, and his obvious hate for Matt Kemp, and you get an extremely expendable player that I believe should be on the bench or off the roster. Shape up or ship out, Manny!

what r u talking about ? I don t get it
Sarcasm and satire, my friend.

kensai, I have to agree with your post. All too frequently, Manny doesn't give the Dodgers veteran at-bats like Sweeney and Pierre. On a couple of those home runs, Manny swung at the first pitch! He didn't even try to work the count, or bunt the man on first over to second. We need more players like Pierre who will have a professional haircut and run hard to first base on weak grounders to second. We need more veterans like Sweeney who will always play the game the right way.
I know, right?
What's up with Manny hitting home runs on the first pitch? Sure, that's great for HIS statistics, but it just proves he's not a team player.
0-4 tonight. Get rid of him!!
Torre's gonna bench him for Andruw Jones.
