The Madness begins

Posted by dylanj on 08/08/08 at 04:00 AM • 58 Comments

Today’s match is the 64th and 65th seeded douchebags.  The winner gets to play overall number 1 seed, Al Yellon, on Monday when the madness truly begins.  Today’s contestants are Rogue Jim and SouthsideCubsFan.  A little bio for each if below to help you determine who the bigger douche is.

Rouge Jim-(Brew Crew Ball)—How is this for a little Milwaukee logic- This guy reads Bleed Cubbie Blue and cried all of 07 about how stupid cubs fans are and how the pic image of the “W” flag they fly is for losers. So being a master of irony RougeJim decides to fly a “L” flag when they lose.  Now he spends his days following games for a team he doesn’t root for all in the hope he can fly his little jpeg L flag for his other hick friends. Real cool asshole if Cubs fans actually gave a shit or took your team serious we might follow your games and brag about when you lose but that happens too much and would cut into our masturbation time.

SouthsideCubsFan—The Winner of the ACB write in contest all you really know can be found here.  You have to wonder where the little angel that’s supposed to show up before people make bad choices was on this “fanpost” idea because somebody needs to tell him the idea was gayer than gay, its so gay that my flaming queen roommate Fabrizio took a look, giggled, called SouthSide a faggot, grabbed his ostrich feather and went back to his room to ream his boyfriend.

This stuff will just be posted here.  I can’t quite figure out the multiple site manager thing and it’s starting to piss me off.  These things will get lost as the days go on, but whatever.

Someone who isn’t banned needs to spread the word to Brew Crew Ball.

3. — Aug 08, 2008 @ 04:35 AM

is there a way to edit the “posted by” - i would like to be called “Douchemaster” for the duration of the tournament

Sign up for another account using that as the screen name and I’ll give you the same access you currently have under that name.

14 votes already. Wow!  There must be tons of lurkers that are loving this.

6. Maddog — Aug 08, 2008 @ 04:37 AM

There were 6 before I posted this.  I had this up on one of the sites I was trying to set up and posted a link so some already went there and voted.  But 8 have voted since I posted this.

7. Maddog — Aug 08, 2008 @ 04:38 AM

If someone spreads the word we might get more, but I’d expect about 35 votes on average.

8. — Aug 08, 2008 @ 04:38 AM

i already took care of it md

If someone spreads the word we might get more, but I’d expect about 35 votes on average.

Judging by the rate of voting that 35 might be easily surpassed.

so Rob G is the guy who was fond of getting on peoples case for not talking about baseball related topics correct md?

so Rob G is the guy who was fond of getting on peoples case for not talking about baseball related topics correct md?

Yeah, but also if someone said something like, oh, “I read that so and so is working on a new change-up grip”, Rob G. would chime in and tell the person to read through all the comments because they already talked about it.  He’d also try to dictate what can be discussed in certain threads (use this thread for this, this one for this, and that one for this).

18. Maddog — Aug 08, 2008 @ 05:27 AM

I guess those images can’t be posted here.  I hate sites that hot link their images.

19. oog of ulam, Assistant Key Grip — Aug 08, 2008 @ 05:29 AM

Damn. That shit’s hilarious, too. Just Google “photobombing” and look at the first sites down.

20. Maddog — Aug 08, 2008 @ 05:30 AM

I just noticed that Al removed from his site the the link to this one.  I was looking for the SACR link and noticed that.  When did he do this petty shit?

21. — Aug 08, 2008 @ 05:32 AM

i would guess after the Go Fuck Yourself post

That’s pathetic then.

I’m not sure which site you mean, oog.

24. — Aug 08, 2008 @ 05:36 AM

md- i cant seem to remember why TCR asked for $ in the first place what was the story behind that?

25. Maddog — Aug 08, 2008 @ 05:40 AM

They were part of MVN (Most Valuable Network).  It’s like SB Nation.  The writers there decided that they wanted to go “on their own” so they purchased the domain and registered for hosting, which costs money.  Previously, MVN was taking care of all of it and probably even paying them a little bit of money.  So they unilaterally decided to go out on their own and then a couple days later they beg for money through paypal donations.  Sadly, the morons who comment there frequently chipped in and gave them money to pay for something that was previously paid for.

It would be like you branching out on your own with your own domain and then asking the commenters to pay for it.

30. Maddog — Aug 08, 2008 @ 05:57 AM

Go here and vote this article up so that it stays toward the top of the Yardbarker page so more people see it.  You’ll probably have to register, but it’s an easy way to get more people to see these posts.

31. — Aug 08, 2008 @ 05:58 AM

rouge jim is making a strong push now

32. — Aug 08, 2008 @ 05:59 AM

What did the hirejimessian guys do in that thread?  I missed it before everything was deleted.

33. — Aug 08, 2008 @ 05:59 AM

there’s the 35 votes.

34. — Aug 08, 2008 @ 05:59 AM

from the four-letter:

To gain ground—significant ground—they’ll also have to beat Carlos Zambrano on Saturday. The Cubs’ ace has an eight-game winning streak against the Cardinals, the longest by a Cubs pitcher in nearly 90 years.

Carlos Zambrano vs. Cardinals, since 2005
W-L   8-0
ERA   1.37
IP-H   79-59

did you guys know that? that is freakin awesome.

35. Maddog — Aug 08, 2008 @ 06:00 AM

did someone post this on Brew Crew Ball yet?

36. SS — Aug 08, 2008 @ 06:01 AM

Yes, the Cubs will sweep this weekend.

37. Maddog — Aug 08, 2008 @ 06:02 AM

did you guys know that? that is freakin awesome.

I didn’t know the exact numbers but I’ve been replying to anyone who says Zambrano isn’t a big game pitcher for years with how well he’s pitched against the Cardinals.  CCD may remember me taking issue with a comment he made on 1060 about Zambrano not being a big game pitcher.  If you pitch that well against your biggest rival, you are a big game pitcher by any definition I know of.

38. Maddog — Aug 08, 2008 @ 06:02 AM

there’s the 35 votes.

Apparently this will be a little bigger than I though.

Someone needs to spread the word at BCB and Brew Crew BAll as well as voting this and other article up on Yardbarker.

39. Maddog — Aug 08, 2008 @ 06:04 AM

I can’t believe Rogue Jim is making this a match.

40. — Aug 08, 2008 @ 06:04 AM

who says Zambrano isn’t a big game pitcher

agreed. Zambrano takes his share of turds on the mound every year, but rarely against rivals. he always seems to show up for games like that. it’s probably part of his general mania. he makes sure to slap himself in the face extra hard those mornings.

41. — Aug 08, 2008 @ 06:05 AM

Rogue Jim is making this a match.

I was shocked to find him losing. it’s one thing to be just another lame, imbecilic cubs fan. but to make a special graphic for cubs losses? to be constantly checking their message board during games, counting posts? that’s like serious in-real-life loserdom there. shouldn’t be close.

42. Maddog — Aug 08, 2008 @ 06:07 AM

He does something because he’s just been dominant against the Cardinals.  A couple of those wins were gems with Chris Carpenter on the mound for the Cardinals.  I remember one game where neither pitcher allowed a run through 8 innings that the Cubs eventually won.  They won another that same year with a Z/Carpenter match-up by a score of 1-0.

He’s done a lot of damage against them in his career.  I believe he’s also dominated the Astros.  I’m too busy to look, but I think he’s been almost unhittable against NL Central teams this year.

43. SS — Aug 08, 2008 @ 06:15 AM

44. J — Aug 08, 2008 @ 06:17 AM

I dunno. Posting a little “L” flag is kind of douche but not as much as post detailing the “True Reflections of Cubdom”. That’s some fucking extraordinarily gay shit. That means alot considering where its coming from.

45. — Aug 08, 2008 @ 06:18 AM

Didn’t Z and Carpenter have another game that went extras, and both of them pitched 9 innings, I think Carpenter even pitched some of the 10th.  I don’t remember the score, but it was a great duel.

46. — Aug 08, 2008 @ 06:21 AM

Great pic, those look fun.  I’m at a loss for adjectives.

47. — Aug 08, 2008 @ 06:24 AM

maddog i need some info on Manny Trillo from SACR

I think Vince or Ryno is going to have to fill you in on him.  He’s annoying, but he’s never really bothered me much so I haven’t really paid attention to him.

The game thread will automatically post at around 12:20.  I’m going to post the conclusion on Derrek Lee later on today.  I’m out of here for awhile.  Might be around for some of the game.  Have a good one.

49. SS — Aug 08, 2008 @ 06:30 AM

I remember in the few times i ever went over there a few years ago, that manny trillo was always dusty baker’s biggest supporter.  to the very end.

51. — Aug 08, 2008 @ 06:38 AM

This guy should win whatever the NIT of Douche is.

52. SS — Aug 08, 2008 @ 07:15 AM

‘50-50 chance’ Alonso could return to UM

That would be nice if he went back in the draft, he is EXACTLY what the Cubs need (to replace Lee is 2/3 years)  Think he would drop given the obvious salary demands?

53. Faith — Aug 08, 2008 @ 08:02 AM

Hmm…you would think for what it’s worth you would almost expect douchebaggery of the sort to come from BTI. Suprised more haven’t voted on that Bitch Crew Ball douche.

54. Faith — Aug 08, 2008 @ 08:03 AM

I dunno. Posting a little “L” flag is kind of douche but not as much as post detailing the “True Reflections of Cubdom”. That’s some fucking extraordinarily gay shit. That means alot considering where its coming from.

I had to register just for this one since I think Kinky Reggae should win this competition handily.  Not only is he a colossal idiot, but he’s got a highly entertaining temper that is incredibly easy to trigger.

Here’s one of his better arguments: http://www.bleedcubbieblue.com/2006/2/12/205351/007

Please note that he has worked hard to get into Al’s good graces.  Check out this exchange from before he’s was Al’s helmet washer: http://www.bleedcubbieblue.com/comments/2007/7/2/93621/52359/132#132
