BYU Football Fall Camp 8-15-08

Fall Football Camp resumed for the BYU Cougars after taking a day off yesterday. The practice looked similar to all of the other practices from Fall Camp thus far. The defense looked good holding the offense during the team segment. The defense continues to shuffle players around, especially in the secondary. Jordan Pendleton was back in practice after an illness kept him out on Wednesday. Walk on Andrew Rich continues to move up the depth chart and played with the number 1 defense today because of David Tafunas absence.
The kickers continue to get a lot of repetitions. The competition between Mitch Payne and Justin Sorensen is as close as ever. Right now it looks as though Mitch will handle extra points and short field goals and Justin will be kicking off and attempting long field goals. Both kickers have been getting equal opportunities so it will be interesting to see who Bronco goes with come game day.
Austin Collies hands will be ready when his leg is. Every day at practice Austin takes repetitions with a machine that shoots balls at him. Austin stands failry close to the machine and it has some zip on it. He also stands sideways and catches the ball with one hand. Another machine he has worked with shoots tennis balls at him.
Tomorrow is the second scrimmage of fall camp. We will be back with updates and more pictures.
