PR: Albany’s Seventh Departure in Two Years Edition
When the news broke that Will Harris was transferring from Virginia to Albany, it was a given that Will Brown would find a way to get someone off the team. Looks like Al Turley has volunteered his spot. In the press release, Brown states that it was personal reasons and Turley’s desire to return home to play football that led to the departure.
This seems strange for a couple reasons. He had plenty of playing time as a freshman. From a distance, it looks like he got along great with his teammates. After all, you don’t follow along and get a matching (and horrifically ugly) mohawk with a guy you don’t like. Why announce Turley’s departure after the annoucement of Will Harris arrival? If Brown was recruiting to fill the void of Turley’s departure, then why keep Turley’s departure a secret?
For all we know Turley departed Albany on his own accord. However, his departure makes him “the seventh UAlbany player in the past two years to leave before completing his eligibility”. It makes me wonder who is next?

[...] Poll: Which Was the Best Binghamton Team? Posted by Phyr on Oct.04, 2008 in Binghamton The KB 2008 Recruiting Class poll got a nice range of responses from you the reader. Alot of people seem to like the talent that Kevin Broadus is bringing in (45%) but don’t like that they are JUCOs (36%). Albany fans also didn’t seem to take kindly to my ribbing of Will Brown. [...]
