Murray loves the buzz at US Open
Britain's Andy Murray has been priced 4th in the US Open outright winner betting markets. The flamboyant Scot has been priced 11/1 by William Hill to claim his first grand slam title, behind Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic.
After failing to secure a medal at the Olympics, Murray is keen to build on his recent victory at the Cincinnati Masters and believes that the large and enthusiastic crowds attending the US Open will aid him in this quest.
"New York is one of my favourite cities” Murray said. “I think it's a great atmosphere. I love the tournament as well, the atmosphere is different to all the other grand slams. There is always a little buzz, even in the middle of the points, that's the main difference between this tournament and others.”
"It's different to Wimbledon, which is very quiet. Here it is the opposite - it's much louder It's good and it's a different feeling to play. I love coming to play here. I think I can do really well."
Murray achieved his highest ever finish at a grand slam tournament in 2008, when he reached the quarterfinals of Wimbledon before being knocked out by a rampant Rafael Nadal. His produced his best performance at the US Open in 2006, when he reached the 4th round before losing to Nikolay Davydenko.
