Bite your tongue Tim, I say this in jest because one of my favorite sites is MLBTR and Tim Dierkes does a wonderful job. But Today he posted about Kenny Rogers being placed on waivers and if he makes it through, he might be a good fit for the Mets with Maine down. From a baseball point of view it makes sense but as a Mets fan I want to see Rogers back in a Mets uniform as much as I want to see Mota.
Rogers came to the Mets after a very good year In Oakland, which erased a lackluster stint in the Bronx who had picked him up from the Rangers where his claim to fame was a no hitter. The Mets came out of nowhere in 1999 and it seemed like a magical season, but that was all erased by Kenny Rogers. One of my worst Mets memories was game six of the NLCS in 1999 against the Braves where they held a 3-2 series lead; in the 11th inning Rogers came in, in relief to give up a lead off double, then intentionally walked two with one out and then walked the winning run ( Andruw Jones) to end the season......
Jon Paul Morosi of the Detroit Free Press says Rogers and other Tigers were placed on waivers Friday. So we'll know today who cleared and who was claimed. Rogers could make sense for a contender like the Mets. Buster Olney doesn't seem him getting that far - he guesses the Yankees or Red Sox. source MLBTR

For as much ire as I have for Kenny Rogers, that inning in particular had an assist from Bobby Valentine, who should not have walked the bases loaded. (That Valentine also botched the rotation for the series is another matter.)
