The Chicago Bears have announced that they have terminated the contract of cornerback Ricky Manning.
The Bears signed Manning to an offer sheet in 2006, days before he was involved in an incident at a Westwood, California Denny’s in which a guy with a laptop got the microchip pounded out of him.
Manning later pleaded no contest to the charges, and then professed his innocence.
He was a third-round pick of the Panthers in 2003. Because he is a vested veteran, he immediately becomes an unrestricted free agent.

Good riddance. He couldn’t cover to save his life. The young guys behind him may not have as much experience, but they have more potential and cost less. Manning Jr. was one of the reasons the defense faltered last year.
And yes, I know asking him to fill in for Vasher is big shoes to fill, but come on, a 7th round pick beat him out for the job mid-season. Any team that gets him is getting the next Jason David if they think he’s gonna do anything but special teams.

Carolina! Where ex-ears Defenders go to die! Right Moose?? Carolina needs him more now than before. Veteran min. pick up candidate. Watch the gate swing wide open with Ricky! He had one good year in 2006 with the Bears.

Bearable don’t be upset cause you guys get rid of players like Harris and they come to Carolina and play their hearts out and lead the league in FF. I also imagine you’ll be missing a certain WR soon here! BTW Harris bad mouthed you guys too and said, “This Defense (Carolina) is the best I have played in and I played for the Bears.”

Bearable do not be upset when you guys trade away great players for a 5th round draft pick and they play their hearts out in Carolina and lead the league in FF. Hope you guys don’t miss Moose too much, bet you will want to pay him to come back after this season!

JayJ6 , MOOSE WAS getting OLD AND SLOW for DA Bears! Steve Smith is awesome for PANTHERS bUT mOOSE WAS TO WORRIED AT POINTING THE fingers when he would drop the balls last season. As for Ricky, well he made Adrian Peterson have a record day against the Bears for 3 touchdowns last year.

I never mentioned Ricky. I said thanks for Harris. The guy you gave up for a fifth rounder and led the league in FF. Moose has looked good in our camp and can still block. I guess I am taking up for him because I can see his point. I mean the Bears are built on Def and did/do not have the best QBs and even if the guys were decent their confidence have to be shaken now, especillay Grossman at this point IMO.
